Cost of LPN school these days?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I'm just curious about what the costs for LPN school are now in different areas. I went to school in 1969 and cost of the ENTIRE course was $150 at our vocational school. This included books, two uniforms, two caps (yes, I'm old..but I loved my cap), lunches in the cafeteria during clinicals, and our graduation uniform and pin. I can't even imagine what it is now. :uhoh3:

The cost of tuition, books, uniform, parking pass, state board exam, application fees, NET test, cap, pin, diploma, pictures, nursing shoes, stethoscope, , etc equals about $10,000. I took out student loans to cover that.

However, I also took out another $10-15 grand to cover gas, child care ($150 per week for 1 child), etc. All told, I am spending about 20-25,000. It is an 11 month program, not including A&P or Med Term. I am just south of Kansas City, MO.

wow alot cheaper then around here....I will still be working my FT and PT job to make ends meet around the house and pay the mortgage, the one good thing is they do offer several programs here with evening and weekend classes for LPN and RN.

I live in CT. Has anyone heard of or gone to Stone Academy? I don't know how much the LPn program is, but their Medical Assisting is $29,000. I thought that was high, but I may be wrong? Should I look elsewhere?:uhoh3:

Honestly, I never tracked my costs back in 2001-2002 (the things you don't worry about when you're 20 and living with your parents). I kept taking out student loans. I know it was $120 (out of area tuition) x 41 credits (not including other general ed)...

Now I'm 27, and have $10,000 of student loans. Ooops!

Other expenses-pre req biology $250, First aid and CPR $135, application fee $60, criminal record check fee $15. Parking per semester (3) $30 I believe

I'm in Mississippi and the estimated cost is $4,500, including testing, uniforms, etc. That's what it said in my acceptance letter, at least.

My program is $7900 total. That is everything other than the fee for NCLEX. But, daycare for the program for my little one will be $6K....ouch!!

NYC LPN school $10,000 tuition only.

i can only get to one school for nursing, so whatever the cost i gotta pay. i don't drive and it's the only accredited school around. i looked on the website and for a commuter (me) it's 18,328, not including books, supplies and uniforms. :uhoh21: i should be able to get good financial aide though. i'm a single mother with no income and i'm under the independent part. our school allows you to get full tuition coverage if you are excepted for it. also they are starting to bring emta buses to the campus to take people that do not drive out to the hospitals and main college so they have a smaller drop out rate. any mercyhurst student can ride for free on any bus as long as they have their student id card. i hope i can get good financing. i have to have 72 credits for a 2 year rn program. did anyone else have to have college writing 1 and 2 in order to graduate??? i understand taking the religion course, but not college writing. whatever though. i am excellent in writing essays and things.

Specializes in EMS, ER, GI, PCU/Telemetry.

Here in NC, the only school without a waiting list was the one I am enrolled in... $26,850 for a 16 month program :(
