This thread is for those who is about to start LPN program. It will be great if we keep each other posted on our excited journey, share the experience and maybe answer questions that others will have about the program.

So, i guess i start. On July 11 i will be starting 11 months long program at one of the local technical schools. My mandatory orientation is on June 10 where, according to letter that I received, we will be given our first homework (a month before the actual course starts!!!). I am 31 y.o married and have a 3 y.o son. I work as a CNA and I will continue working p.t during the program. I am very nervous because I haven't take any science classes since high school. English is my second language but that will not be a problem. I chose the LPN path because I love to work at the patience bedside, i can earn decent money and gain more hands on experience. I am planing to further my education after becoming LPN.

I am wishing everyone who is about to start or just started good luck! Lets do it together

Hi my fellow nursing students!

I've been accepted to Carrington College, a private LVN school with an awesome reputation in my region and everyone's familiar with their grads! Program starts Nov 3rd & its full-time M-F 7am-4pm. Was surprisingly competitive to get in, only accepts 30 students, so I feel blessed. That HESI wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! My job is SUPER supportive. I work in a ALF and have been for a year, and they're willing to let me just work weekends. I've been a Caregiver overall for 4 years (private duty) After being exposed to the healthcare/nursing atmosphere at my job and finally taking a shot at pursuing my dreams, here I am! I'm beyond excited to be a future LVN and look forward to furthering my education afterwards. My ultimate goal is to get my BSN. I have no kids and have been married for almost 4 years. Husband is very supportive, as he recalls the sacrifices we had to make while he was in school. He's totally behind me and knows it'll take alot of my time. I love him so much for that. Orientation is on Halloween (Oct 31) Already have my BLS and am in a 6 wk evening CNA course currently until LVN program starts.

Lets support one another, without allnurses, I truly would be left put of the nursing loop. This site with all its motivational stories has been my backbone as far as inspiration, letting me no, "anything is possible" U are all amazing and we CAN do this. Keep y'all updated.

I am now in my second term at Jersey College and I honestly can't wa to learn something new! We received a week off to start reading ahead in MedSurg and Pharmocology! We started out with a class of 50, 10 students did not make it to second term! I'm nervous about Pharmocology and Medsurge, anyone have any tips?

Just finished my first lpn class! Earned a B in fundamentals and let me just say that wasn't an easy grade to learn. I had 3 exams and a final. My grades were 85,82,79 and 85 on the final. I was praying for a B on the final to get a B in the class. Nursing questions really trip you completely up!! Especially select all that apply. Well I'm thankful that I got a B. I have a week off then I start med/surg and clinicals. Hope everyone's semester started off great!

always stay closely in contact with your instructors, be honest and ask what you can do to make it up

Passed med/surg I with a C and pharm with an A. Man med/Surg was so hard. I literally passed by .3 and I'm thankful. I figured out my way of studying a little late in the game, but I passed. What works for me: reading the entire chapter before class, taking notes in class, going back over each section and making notes, highlighting and focusing on the nursing care plan and safety. Then doing a study group. Next semester I have med/surg II & III and A&P II.

Wow you have two pharm?

I mean A&P

I only took A&P 1. There's 1&2 for my program.

My program only require one A&P , that crap was a whole freaking headache. In studying for my mid-term tomorrow, I have pharm and fundamental of basic nursing , can't wait .

Thank you so much for this I start July 6th :)

How long did it take you to get in?

Hi! I'm about to start 11 month PN program at local CC. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. AND English is my second language as well! I'm Chinese. Kinda stressed out about large amount of vocabulary but I'm willing to devote every minute to this. Hope we sail through!
