Working with an out of state license..HELP

I am an LPN that just transfered to Texas. I have to wait 3 months to get a license because of eligibilty issues. (No narc stealing, drugs of abuse) Happend before I became a nurse and is minor but none the less, I am not sure what to do about a job. Are there any type of facilities, besides the VA which isn't hiring right now, that allows you to work on an out of state license?

Sorry, but you need to have a valid license for that particular state. The only loop hole around that ruling is the VA, or a military base.

Each state has their own licensing board.

Great info for thise considering moving to another state: Apply for license 3-4 months in advance of planned move if possible.

Only option is to apply for tech positions in facility.

Another option is to apply for a 'graduate nurse' position, meaning an unlicensed nurse who completed nursing school and is awaiting the proper licensure for that state. My LTC facility hires unlicensed graduate nurses, also known as 'GNs'.

I will check into the GPN, thing but I'm thinking beause I am unable to get licensed because of eligibility, it may not work. Plus the board says it may take longer than 3 months unfortunatly and I think that's as long as a temp license is for. I was will try to seek other position like techs though. Maybe at a plae that will hire me on as an LPN later. Thanks for your input everyone!!

My Texas temporary LVN license was valid for four months. Fortunately I only needed it for one month, since my actual nursing license arrived in the mail one month after I received the temporary license.

By the way, we are called LVNs in Texas, and not LPNs. Welcome!
