So I found a job on indeed the other day and sent my resume. I received a text from the "doctor" at 12am asking me to text him back when I get a moment so we can setup an interview. I am interested since it is in a wound care clinic which is what I want but I am seeing a bunch of read flags and am starting to wondering if this is a legit job.

The position when I applied for it did not list the company name. It just said "New Los Angeles Wound Care Clinic". The doctors name is "Dr. A". I googled his number but nothing came up... When I call the number directly his voice mail say "Hi you have reached Dr. A. I am currently not available, please leave me a detailed message and I will return your call". Are people really requesting interviews va text?? That's so unprofessional.

Thoughts?

Trust your instincts. If it seems shady, it probably is. I wouldn't go interview unless you get some very legit information to back up this dr A. Yikes. I would run. It's too bad he already has a lot of information about you!

Well I did some research and from what I found it's not uncommon to have a text message conversation with a recruiter this day and age (Tips for Texting With Recruiters) I'm sorry but I think this is so beyond professional I don't even know what to say. I can't even believe job hunting has come to this. And this is coming from someone in their early 30's that all for social media and texting but this is just over the top. I'm not even responding

I get text messages for jobs all the time. I don't ever answer them though. Don't like not knowing.

So I guess this is not a new thing. I happened to mention it on facebook and had a few people (non medical field) said this has happened to them.

One girl said she actually got the job offer via text. The message said "We are happy to welcome you to the team, please come in on xyz day to complete paperwork... " and this was for a $60k a year job. I was beyond shocked!!!

I don't think this is something I will ever get used to. Technology is destroying communication!

Something about your situation gives me the creeps! When you google this clinic does anything come up? The doctors name not coming up is too strange to overlook - before going for an interview please please verify that the address IS this wound care clinic and that the doctor is who he says he is. Is there a look up where you are to search physicians? Maybe I'm too untrusting but I hope it works out well for you!

Dr. A gave me no clinic name, didn't even give me his/her full name.. trust me, this is not an interview I plan on attending

Yeah...I feel like you would be the one with the wound...when you wake up in a tub full of ice and discover Dr. A stole your liver. ?

Follow your gut feeling.. also technology is taking over in job hunting tremendously. Text message as the 'first contact'? That's new to me. I am aware that employers text employees 'once your hired' but not as a first contact basis. Unprofessional and not personable.

I also sent you a PM @pnkgirl
