Starting to get really frustrated....

I have now been unemployed for 5 months, lost my job back in Sept. Since than I haven't been able to find a job anywhere! I have applied for numerous positions and have only had two interviews. The last interview was for a position in a dialysis clinic. I applied for the posted position and get a call a week later for an interview. Go in for the interview where they inform me that the specific position I applied for had been filled internally but there were hours available for another LPN between their two local clinics. Was told they would like me to come in for a job shadow and that someone from HR would contact me to set it up. Than I don't hear anything for a month! A nurse recruiter finally calls me to schedule the job shadow, I go to the shadow from 8am-noon. A week later the recruiter calls me again to tell me everyone really liked me and I was the top candidate for a position they just had to get the ok from the "higher ups" before extending an offer. Another week goes by and I get a message from the recruiter saying there is no position available at this time but they are still trying to do some shuffling internally and will hopefully have a position available. A few weeks later I get an email saying there's no position at this time. Talk about frustrating, I feel like they kind of jerked me around for a good two months for nothing.

As of right now there are a total of two LPN positions available in this entire area... One of which is my dream job and I've already applied to it (3 1/2 months ago) and can't even get a call for an interview. The other is for a clinic position in the same company, with hours that aren't really feasible for me. I've never gone this long without a job and am starting to feel hopeless...

Same boat too. Well i just graduated in December, but I've already gotten back a couple of rejection emails. I'm just ready to start working!

Just keep plugging away is all...when I graduated late 2008 with my LPN license it took me till January 2010 to gain employment, I worked as an aid to float myself financially during that time. Now I can get interviews fairly easy if I need too, I took a year off in 2012 to stay home with my baby and when I went job searching in 2013 I accepted a good position after only 2-3 weeks of putting in applications. Experience has a lot to do with it I'm sure you know that already, it will happen!

Your dream job that you applied to--can you call HR and follow up on your application? If the position has been filled, can you do per diem? Same with the dialysis job--can you call the recruiter and see if you could do per diem for them? At least that way you could get some experience?

It may not help right at this moment, however, could you apply to the local summer camps in your area (day camps included) to work the summer as a camp nurse? Again, good experience.

I would also apply to home health agencies. Even for per diem postiions.
