Hi

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello everyone,

This is my first time here.

Should be interesing finding my way around.

I am a LPN with 9 years experience all of which has been in Alzheimers care.

Feeling quite frustrated lately from a combination of nearing burnout with dementia, which I absolutely love and definetly burned out on being "Just a LPN".

Don't know what else to say at this time except that I am looking forward to getting to know my way around.

Nice to meet ya. I am slightly new.....I don't post alot, I just like to read what everyone else has to say. I was an LPN for about 8 years when Iwent back for my RN. I have been in the ICU for about 9 months and so far I do like it, but I definitely have my days where I second guess my decisions of staying in nursing. I just make sure I take time off and don't work too much overtime. I have been working in the medical field since I was 13 and I don't think i would know what else to do with myself.

Hi,

Congratulations on going back to school and succeeding. Wow!!

I am planning on going back as well. I guess that's really what led me to this web site. Just messing around on the net lookin at differant sites.

Was school hard? Did you want to kill yourself at first for going back???

I'm somewhat nervous but also soooo frustrated with the "lpn" thing that I'm pretty determined at this point.

What kind of nursing did you do as a LPN??

thanks for responding

I went back b/c I was so frustrated that I couldn't so things that every other "nurse" could. there were times when I was made to feel like I wasn't a "Real Nurse". It was hard where I went b/c there were some instructors who made it very clear they didn't think LPN's should exist anymore. With working, being married, having 2 little ones (5 and 2 1/2 at the time)..... yes it was hard. But when you walk up that stage and graduate and then you get your "pass" from the NCLEX, it was definitely worth it.:balloons: :biggringi :lol2:

I spent alot of my time working in doctors' offices as an LPN. I did front and back office work, but I also did agency work in the hospitals and home health care. I know that I had choices, I just didn't have all the ones I wanted and I needed my RN for that.

My youngest will be 4 this Spring and when he goes to Kindergarten, I will go back for my BSN.

I think I might go into legal nursing later in life and follow in my momma's footsteps.

I wish you the best of luck!!!!!

What type of nursing do you do now?

Christy

i KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT BEING 'JUST AN LPN' THAT WAS ONE OF THE MAJOR REASONS WHY I HAD TO STOP FOR A WHILE. I WORKED IN PALLIATIVE CARE FOR 5 YEARS , LOVED IT, HATED THE LACK OF RESPECT FROM SOME OF THE 'HIGHER UPS' I'M SURE YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB, NOT EASY TO DO. KEEP YOUR CHIN UP:)
