Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

Orientation was very interesting & i got a chance to see some of you in person.

Pinkpokadots: I wanted to know if you was one of the students that came spoke to us today? If it was you THANKS FOR THE GREAT ADVICE, it was very helpful!!!!!!!!

Specializes in Neuro ICU, SICU.

I agree, I definitely think that the talk from the current students was helpful.

Yes, I was one of the students. Good luck to you all!

I know there was some confusion with the NCLEX book. The one that a lot of us use is the Lippincott Q&A NCLEX-RN book. It's just a book filled with questions about different body system diseases with really good rationales. It was helpful for me in Med/surg I, Med/surg II, & Peds. I also used it for the beginning half of OBGYN. There are some mental health questions in it too.

It's a good study source because after you've crammed all the materials that your teacher's given you, those questions help put everything you've just learned into the nursing perspective.

Also, remember to use the book's CD for more questions. If you buy your books new, it always come up with a free online account to where you can sign up and take additional practice questions. Don't worry if you buy a used book and can't access the materials online. You can always share accounts with your friends in class.

If there is anything else I can help you all with, let me know!

I wish we had longer to talk to the students, that was very helpful!

Pink-in regards to the uniforms, how do we go about getting them?

Ash-where were you sitting?

You can buy your uniforms at two places.

1. You can go to Baton Rouge and buy your uniforms in the main OLOL campus bookstore. All the shirts are already embroidered, so you can just walk in and buy it.

2. You can also buy your uniforms at Uniforms by Bayou in Metairie. The only downfall of buying it here is you have to order your shirts at least 2 weeks (I think) ahead of time b/c they have to embroider the school's logo on it. You may want to call and ask them about the wait time. Here's their website: http://uniformsbybayou.com/shopub/store_locations.php

You can buy your pants anywhere in any style that you want as long as it's galaxy blue.

You don't need your uniforms in Pharmacology. I waited until I knew for sure that I was going to pass Pharm to buy my uniforms because those uniforms are not cheap!

Thanks for the info

curiousKayPee: I was sitting in the fourth row on the left side. I had on a colorful shirt.

Where were you sitting???

& where was everyone else sitting?

Were you the one that told about the workforce, with blonde hair?

Yes that was me!!!!

I'm the one that tucked in your tag, I had a grey & white sweater on, I was in the back row like two rows behind you I think...yay I'm back home in to watch the replay of rescue me@

O ok, so we met & didn't know who each other was LOL....

What a coincidence!!!!

I know, right! I think once class starts we can all get a chance to really know each other or maybe like the weekend before we can all meet for coffee or drinks and get a game plan together, it seems like we all have to stick together
