Lady of the Lake Accelerated ASN

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

Hi. I am very interested in the accelerated ASN program at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Can anyone give me any information on this program? I've seen the information that is available online. However, I am looking for information from experienced insiders such as: getting accepted, true level of difficulty, etc. This will be a major career change for me, and I do not want to make a bad decision. I have a 3.6 gpa from SLU w/ AA in OSH and BA in Gen Studies. I consider myself a capable, hard working student but all I have heard is HORROR stories.

Thanks!

I know I can't wait to meet everyone. :D But I still have to get my CPR card.

WEDNESDAY IS SO CLOSE!!!

I need my CPR card as well, will be getting that tomorrow at the Red Cross in NOLA. Almost done!

has anyone talked to someone at OLOL about this influenza vaccination we are supposed to be getting? I keep getting the same response from different clinics saying it is not flu season yet. That's the only thing I'm missing and I don't know if I should turn my packet in yet without it. Thanks everyone!

Jvr1581- i was having the same problem with the flu vaccine. I turned mine in without it and they said it was fine. They pushed back the due date until 10/30/11 for the flu vaccine on my webservices account. Most places wont have the upcoming flu season vaccination until sometime in september.

Fuman, you were able to use Webservices, what about Blackboard? I can log into my OLOLC email account, but I'm not able to get access to those two services!!

No, I havent figured out how to get on blackboard. I dont know if we have to use our student ID (which I dont know) or what. I was able to log into webservices with the same info as the email log-in. Webservices is weird and its like I have to Log in twice to actually get on (if that makes any since). Here is the link for the initial log-in: https://access.ololrmc.com/dana-na/auth/url_74/welcome.cgi?p=forced-off

Once you log in with your username and password (same as email), you have to click "WebServices for Students", then this is where you click "Log In" again (second time). I believe that the only difference is that this one is case sensitive and your username has to be in all lowercase ex. bobsmith. Your password is the same one that you set up for the email.

It works for me, so hopefully it works for you.

Can't believe orientation is only a day away, wow!

As far as the vaccinations is going, I'm missing the second varicella & flu shot. I'm scheduled to get my second one the beginning of August, hope that will be ok, I looked at form and just thought it was only one needed, anywho I can't wait to see u all!

CKP: just FYI, Varicella is the chicken pox vaccine. If you have already had chicken pox, you don't need it.

There's an * that says two varicella doses or positive tither, history of disease (childhood disease) not acceptable. It's on the light yellow form, the top reads Dr. Physician/accepted applicant. The tither is expensive, that's why I'm getting the vaccine.

yes that's the chicken pox one

Oh, I just got the titer, bc I already had chicken pox. I just got all my titers at the same time. Only cost me a $25 copay at my GP, but I know what you mean about the titers being expensive without insurance! I went to a walk-in clinic originally, not knowing they didn't accept insurance. They were gonna charge me over $400 for all my titers and physical!

You gotta save money where you can when you consider how much our tuition is! Speaking of that, Im doing my CPR class through my work for free! Only problem is that it takes place on July 22, which is after the due date. I made sure that the school was OK with it tho.

My ACLS & BLS expires in Sept, I will have it updated by the time the program starts. We only need cpr, but for my license I need both, which is why I didn't bother worrying about the chicken pox issue, I thought I had everything vaccination wise, being that I work in the hospital, but guess not.
