Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

Even though I can't come, I want us all to be able to sit together at orientation. I'm so bummed about the whole thing!

If they do orientation like they did last Fall (when I started), everyone sits with their clinical group.

Ohhh really?! @bundoksaint that would be kool to meet the ppl who r gonna be in clinicals together! Can u tell us how your orientation was, if you still remember? That way we know more or less what to expect.

I don't know about you guys but I'm going crazy of anxiety! ?? I already want it to be Thursday to go to orientation! We have to take the code of ethics book, right?

Anybody from Kenner going in this Fall? I'm in section 311 and 302 (I think) anybody in any of those sections?

Hello everyone, I am new here. I have read you guys post and firstly, I want to say congrats to all of you! I was wondering if any of you live on the Westbank who will be attending charity in the fall. I am interested in meeting fellow classmates. I know we will start orientation next week, but it would be nice to know a few people.

YESSS. I am in section 316 as well shawn39. Where do you live? Maybe we can meet or chat before orientation/ class.

Hi all the tables are labeled with your class section number and youll be seating with your clinical book. Dont waste your money on buying that ethic book they ask for it every semester and never use it. Orientation is kind of exhausting because your their the whole day and they tell you a bunch of information about parking the rules of the school blah blah. Everyone was nervous and anxious you could definitely felt the tension in the room is normal to be nervous ;-) Enjoy it and if they give the pages to read before school starts read it helps alot. Im on level 3 and am reading before school starts to get ahead on the first exam which is the 2nd week of school for us.

Thanks, Kubaba87!! I had a feeling that we wouldn't use the ethics book, but they said to bring it to orientation. I forgot that my brother-in-law said that you sit w/ your clinical group. A test the 2nd wk of school?? That's crazy!! It's going to be a long road.

Still waiting for my ethics book to arrive. I hope I have it before Thurs! Although we may not it, first impressions are your last impression!

nurseflow, I know exactly what you mean. Back in April, when we had to go to that meeting for all of our health records, finger prints, etc.., they asked us to fill out something and I could have died b/c I didn't have a pen. Thankfully, the person next to me let me borrow a pencil. I did NOT want to raise my hand and say I didn't have a pen!!

At orientation there's like 250 people just like you they don't check to see if you have the book they gonna give u a packet that talks about ethic codes. Well third level u have the pharmacology exam first week and then PCn exam the second week. Nursing school is no joke people drop like flies that's why u have to study ahead of time.

They only accepted 100 people for our class b/c they changed the whole curriculum starting with our class. She said they usually accept around 200. Anyway, I don't remember if I asked someone this or not, but can we use that overhead walkway so we don't have to run out in traffic and wait for the light? I'm talking about if we park by St Joseph. I heard to read ahead and never get behind b/c we'll never catch up. Someone is my husband's family failed out last semester. He would have been going into Level 3 as well. He said he only needed 3/10 of a point, but didn't make it.
