Hello I am a CNA in Ohio, my name is Carla hopefully someday I will make it on to college. Nice to meet you. :rotfl:

Specializes in Geriatrics, Wound Care.

Hi all! I have been a CNA for a few months, I am looking to get into nursing school early next year. I love being a CNA! :)

It's great to see other CNAs on here!

Specializes in NICU.

I too am a CNA. I work in a LTC facility in Michigan. I have only been in this field for 4 months, but the residents have already left many life-long impressions upon me. I have shed some tears, but they have been compensated by the many smiles that these people bring to my face. There was one woman at our facility that brought a smile to everyone's face no matter what the circumstance was. All she had to do was smile. She had a heartmelting toothless smile, similar to that of a six month old baby. She was sweet as pie and gave more hugs and kisses than one could ever ask for. She is dearly missed. I truly enjoy my job.

Hopefully this fall I too will be starting the Nursing program at my local community college. I can't wait to experience more areas of nursing.

Hello everyone I'm a CNA/CMT/student nurse wow! I enjoy being a CNA I've learned a lot seen a lot. Congratulations to all who will be starting in the nursing program its a lot of fun :) .

Good Luck!

Hello there..I am also a CNA, I have been a CNA for almost 3 years now. I work at a hospital here in Southeast Kansas. I really enjoy my work, and I am currently taking college courses steering towards nursing school. It is SO HARD working part time, and going to school full time, not to mention having a family. I am married and I have a 3 year old girl. Email me if anyone wants to talk, I would really appreciate hearing from someone who I going through this also.

Cheers!

CNA from Central Kansas. Been a cna for 14 years and a cma for 4 years and currently a SPN. I've worked in nursing homes and 2 hospital and 2 assisted living centers. I enjoyed working in the hospital because I got to meet different people. It wasn't the same thing day after day unlike in the nursing homes. Yeah, you had the experience of getting to know the residents and build a bond with them, but then something would happen to them and then they die. In the hospital, you still build bonds with your patients, but for the most part, they are there to get better and go home.

Hi, I am in CNA school right now. I am really excited because I actually love going to class. I have 3 small children, 5, 4, & 1. I will be taking my pre-reqs this fall and hope to start non-nursing courses by Jan. I know it will be stressful, but the reward will be tremendous. I plan to work weekends and take classes during the week when the kids are in school/preschool. Where do you work? (hospital, Nursing home?) I want to work in a hosp so they can reimburse the nursing school.

hope to hear from you soon,

lee

I am a CNA in Illinois. I work in a LTC facility that has about 85 residents and never enough CNAs to go around! Same as everywhere. I have been a CNA since Jan. of this year and absolutely love it. I am not ready to go up the ladder, promised myself I would do this til I got burnt out. I hope that doesn't happen though, I am not ready to give up the meaningful one-on-one time I get with the residents. It seems the higher you go, the more time you lose with your patients to me. Nice to meet ya'll.

PJ

Wow, you all sound awesome.

I'd love to work with all of you!

Right now I'm not working because I'm in LPN school and so is my husband. We have 2 girls that are 9 and 6 and very demanding to have mommy around more since I've been in school. Yes, it's very stressful, but you have to think of the rewards at the end of school. Graduation, your diploma, and your career. I did work in a hospital on the cancer unit for about a year and then in pediatrics for 6 mo. I also worked at an Assisted living facility at the same time and then my mom came to live with us and I had to make a choice between my family or my job. I'm very excited to finish school. Where I'm at, we have a weekend program where we only go to school on Fridays and Saturdays from 8-6. I have 1 1/2 years to go. I started in January. My husband, like I said, is in school with me. If that doesnt put a bunch in the pants sometimes, but it's actually pretty cool that we can support each other like that too.
