unsatisfied with ielts results

HI! I just received my test report form in ielts. Well, I'm not happy with the result, actually I feel so depressed. I got 6.5 in speaking test, but I need to have atleast 7 to qualify me to apply for a visa screen certificate in CGFNS/ICHP. The rest of my scores though are okay. This is my fourth time to take the test and I always get 6 or 6.5 in speaking test. I already enrolled in a review center and even speak to a native english speaker (american) regularly to improve my speaking skills but my scores did not improve. I don't know what else to do. I'm thinking maybe there are other english speaking countries out there beside U.S. which only require a minimum band score of 6.5 in speaking? Please help! I'm tired of retaking the test just to get atleast 7 spoken band.:bluecry1:

Greetings! I took the IELTS last Decemeber 6, 2008. It was my second time taking the exam and when I received the scores it was 8.5 for listening, 8 for reading 6.5 for writing and speaking. I felt confident after the interview was finished and I was happy because I had a nice interviewer, he was attentive in listening to you. Howerver, when I got the results I only got 6.5 in speaking. i felt very depressed and even cried.

Now, I'm planning to ask the British council to recheck my speaking test. Do you recoomend it? ( I know I have to pay but I want to have a peace of mind that I really deserve a 6.5 but in my heart I know I can get a 7). Do you thinnk there is a chance that my score will be higher by 0.5? Thank.. I want to hear your opinion about this matter. God Bless

Well as per my experience , when i asked to recheck my speaking score then it became 7 from 5.5. Since u r confident that u deserve 7 , so i recommend u go for the recheck. Gamble for 0.5 is not a big deal. Well i specifically asked for speaking test recheck. I wish u good luck for recheck and keep us updated.

Regards

Did they refund what you paid for since your test score increased? a lot of people told me not to go for a recheck since it will be a waste of time and money. i took it with the British Council. What do you think guys? Can miracle happen? I'm so tired of reviewing and retaking it

I would like to share that I got a 7 in my speaking test! I passed it, if you believe in yourself and your confident on the day of the exam, and it didn't turned out the way it was supposed to be... then gamble to have a recheck.... Thank God!! Praie his name!:yeah:

Hi everyone!

I wish to share that I also had my ielts scores remarked. The examiner gave me a 6.5 in speaking while I had 7.5 in L, R- 7, W-6...I was so disappointed. Hopefully I will get the results on the first week of December.

My interviewer was a Filipina Lady. I was so frustrated because I thought she will give me a higher score because the interview went really well.

There was a little incidence before the interview though. I was waiting outside the room for her and she came out and said "just a minute". She came back after 10 minutes with a food. So her hands are full, I stood up to open the door for her but she again "Just a minute". She misinterpreted that I was in a hurry to get inside the room. If ever that influence my speaking score,I'm considering carefully to file a complaint. If ever she based my score on the said incidence.

Nevertheless, Im praying and hoping after my results will be back on December. that they'll raise it...with God's help.

Hello everyone,

After nearly five weeks of waiting, I finally got my new ielts score.

L- 7.5, R- 7, W, -6.5, S -7

So to any one who have to go through the same anxiety and uncertainty of your scores improving , I'm a living testimony. My scores were raised both on writing and speaking.

If you knew in your heart that you were aggravated, fight for it and don't let the politics of first impression basis and crab mentality bring you down.

God is good all the time..

Hi rogue! May i know when you submitted your request? Just so I'd know my possible time frame too... thanks

I submitted it last Oct 21. Results came out Nov 23

tnx for your reply rogue... i submitted mine Oct 26. So, i hope to receive it anytime now if I were to gauge per your time frame... :nurse:

hi rogue. I followed up with british council coz i haven't received my result up to now and i cited yours which came out in five weeks... they asked for your name so they could check out why... would you be kind enough to pm me your name pls ... tnx much!

Bubblynrs,

I took my IELTS exam at IDP Philippines not British Council. As according to their website, expect your results after 8 weeks.

Perhaps it will take longer than IDP.

And also after filling my remark, the IDP Office manager specifically told me that enquiry results may arrived after 5 weeks.

I understand how you feel. Just keeping asking them if the results are in. You have the right to know.
