Hi, I registered with pearsonvue today, I expected to receive the automated receipt as well as the candidate number after 30 or 40 minutes through email because that's what I heard from all of my friends who registered with them and from here also, but I haven't received any yet. Anybody who encountered like this? I emailed them today and I might receive their reply tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I did not expect this. I am a little bit scared and bothered. By the way, I got my approval to sit for the exam from Vermont BON.

hi precy! i know before i applied to illinois that they require the toefl series only. but then i still submitted my application to cts. i was surprised when i got there first letter to me that im lacking some documents (ces and the fingerprint receipt) but they didn't ask about my toefl exam report. i was even more suprised with their next letter to me that they recieved and approved my application. and that they told me to register to pearson for nclex. just now after reading your reply (that may be the rules have changed) i read the requirements for internationally educated nurses seeking licensure in illinois. their requirements: ces, toefl, nclex-rn. but then i just discovered in their second paragraph regarding toefl exam, it says: "toefl may be waived by the department/divison if your credentials evaluation report indicates you nursing education program was conducted in english utilizing english textbooks" updated 9/25/06 u can view it here: http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/cgfns_02.pdf i am holding my copy of ces report and under my nursing education, the language of instruction was "english with english textbooks." there it goes, i think this is the answer to my question and for others as well. knowing this made me realized its easy to apply for the stete of illinois(just my own opinion), you just need the ces report no need for toefl (if you are subject to exemption and that is still the department/division's own prerogative) and then after they approved your application you can take the nclex and when you pass they will issue you your license even without a ssn but then you need to have a ssn when you renew your license. i will be sharing this information for those who are applying in illinois. i think this is a useful information to them.

thanks precy for your reply! i was directed to read the requirements of illinos again with your reply and there i got the answer to my question. thanks a lot! god bless!

Thanks nice to know, anyway, for those who took the toefl, it can still be used for the visascreen.

It is up to CTS to make that determination, and for most they have been requiring the TOEFL exam first. Any state that has language requirements usually follows the US State Dept requirements, meaning if it is required for immigration, then you will need the English for the state.

English is required for the Visa Screen Certificate so it is not a loss at all.

this is what i've been saying bfore in other thread, that illinois doesnt require applicants to take toefl as long as their ces reports indicate that their nursing education was conducted in english. however, when i checked illinois bon website just lately, it seemed that toefl is now mandatory to all foreign-trained applicants.

oh man! im getting confused now! should i take the toefl or not? i already passed the ielts as part of my cg certificate and my vsc. if il take toefl its solely for il's requirement.

hey, i just checked idfpr.com and yes, illinois does not need toefl if your ces report indicates that your nursing education was in english. this had been their policy until january of this year when they specifically required all foreign educated nurses(no exception!) to take toefl. so you may not take toefl anymore, lucky you!!!
