Just to clear up a few things here:

Employer-based green cards take about one year to get when there are visas available, as RNs are fast-tracked. Family-based petitions take five years or so, but you do not qualify for that, unless it is immediate family such as parent or sibling, and can be even longer.

For the green card, you are petitioned. "Sponsor" is the word that was used when the H1-B (temporary work permits) were still available and bring up bad issues with many hospitals. Considerable amount of paperwork and it required a full-time staff of three to keep everything in order. Plus for you the facility or agency is not required to pay the same rate as a green card holder, or American nurse. Be happy that they did away with it, as you also belonged to the employer, if they fired you, you had thrity days to find another employer or you would have to leave the country.

The best way to do things is where the nurse is responsible for their fees for exams and immigration, and then get the entire salary to them, as well as the bonuses. This is what is normally done with the direct hire contracts. You also can pick your own attorney, and that is another bonus in your favor.

-------------------

Now for your specifics: You need to pass NCLEX before you can get hired, and begin the process of immigration. Results are required to be submitted to USCIS in the beginning. There is also a retrogression looming, so things are not going to be fast. And since you are new here, if you took the June exam, things are not going to happen until you retest.

i've read all about it and i still want to apply to cali because of my relatives, mainly.

so my question: will they accept my registration if i send only my diploma with supporting papers like certificate of passing since my license is not processed yet due to the leakage issue. will they accept it? what do you think??? i really want this registration to be over and done with. please, i need help.

I took and passed the ( NCLEX) Licensure examination of California and Suzzane is right, it will take 6 months before one would be able to receive his ATT..I think that the Cali BON is requiring license in the Philippines, if you dont have a Philippine license, you must write a letter why you dont have a license yet and that is stated on the procedures..Well, when I submitted my requirements for application, I included the certified true photocopy of my Philippine license...I have a friend who applied on CA BON, and after 3 months, she received a letter from the CA-BON, stating that her requirements were incomplete since she didnt include her Philippine license..Well, immediately she submitted the photocopy of her license, but it created an impact on her application..It took 8 months before she ever received her ATT..so before you submit requirements to the CA BON, make it sure that you didnt miss anything and filled-up the application form correctly..Waiting period for CA BON eligibility for examination is way too long and it gets more delayed if you commit any errors or inconsistencies with your requirements..

hi... would it be faster if i deliver the requirements directly in sacramento? i mean woul i get a fast reply from them?

What do you mean directly to Sacramento?..Are you there in California?..If you are staying in California, the waiting period is about 3-5 months but if you are currently here in the Philippines, it would take 6 months before CA BON can verify your eligibility, and you'll encounter much delays if you have inconsistency with your application data or requirements..There is no other way which can make the application faster, the CA BON has set a standard waiting period for the application processing but they give shorter waiting period for California residents compared to those who reside in the Philippines..

Sorry, the waiting period does not vary with where you are currently, but where you went to school. They do an evaluation of each and every nurse, they do their own, and do not use the CES, etc.

The only thing that changes is how long that the mail takes to reach you. Nothing at all to do with verification.

And deliviering it to Sacramento will not speed things up, remember that the transcripts, etc., need to come from the school, not accepted from you.

oh..ok cause we plan on going for a vacation on november or december, and i was wondering if it would speed up the process if i deliver it directly...so i have to wait till they receive the transcripts from my school i guess? gosh.. can i not declare my license in my application for exams???

I'm migrating to California before the end of the year so what i did was applied to VT BON and ask my school to send my transcript ahead of time to both Vermont and California BON since i'm planning to endorse to California once i pass NCLEX. I didn't take the NLE in June and i wrote a letter with my application to VT stating that i have no intention to practice nursing in my country of education.

You mentioned you are immigrating to Ca and that means you have an immigrant visa. With that you don't have to go through the VT but instead go directly to CA. Ca BON doesn't require a license if you want to sit for exam and they do the evaluation of your school transcript themselves. With an immigrant visa, you can apply for SSn which is needed by the Ca BON to issue you a license once you passed the NCLEX.

Good luck!

The only reason why i went throught the route of VT is so i can get an ATT and schedule my exam before i migrate to California (around Dec.) I don't want to wait until Feb for my ATT if i go through CA. VT does not require SSN and local license either.

Was wondering by which visa you are going to the US on seeing as you are planning on moving at the end of the year?

fiancee visa.. i just want to get my application going while i'm still here so all i have to do is schedule my exam when i get there :) i applied through VT in August

This is true like in my experience:

i applied to CA BON last December 2005 when i was still in the Philippines..and now that i am here in the USA i still dont have my eligibility letter from them...the reason? my school didnt include or maybe forgot to include the clinical portion of my transcript and this cause of my delay..:(

i already ask the school to send a copy...and yet whenever i am trying to follow up my status the operator would tell me i still lack the clinical portion..or may be its under evaluation..wait for another 2 weeks, etc, etc..

to anyone: how am i going to give to the board my SSN?..when i asked them they would transfer my call to a licensing specialist and a recorder would answer for you to leave a message...i am afraid to just leave my SSN..
