Hi all!

So today is the first day of spring and at my hospital every in patient gets a posy of flowers. this is something I never heard of until I came to OZ. Is it just at my hospital (RMH) or is it a Melbourne/ Victoria / National thing?

Saying it is the first day of spring is one thing.....................Its teaming down here in Melbs!

I wish they did something nice like that in the US.

Another thing I have never heard of. I have been nursing around Victoria for the past 25 years never seen a patient given anything by a public hospital. I have even worked at RMH on neuro.

Must be an axuilary? thing by fund raisers. I'd like to see them try it at our local hospitals, in the last 24 hours they were not even accepting patients.

I have also worked in Queensland and have not heard of this before.

Raining here tooo, I am sick of rain...

cool it was so nice last year seeing all these oldies getting a little posies! Could possibly be the volunteers who are amazing at RMH! Was telling the grads about it yesterday. kinda want to be there when some of my pts get their posy

I hear you on the rain.................If I wanted to have this much rain and cold weather I would of stayed in Ireland for the "summer" :) Co,me January we will probably be complaining about the heat..............never happy unless complaining!

How lovely. It may be a volunteer thing.

Yes it's cold here in WA as well. We have had some really nice, sunny days, but it gets freezing around 4-5 pm, and very cold in the morning. It's sunny here today, but the wind is cold.

My joints are hurting because of it. Roll on summer!

I cheated out of part of winter.

I went home to Ireland for a month and actually got pretty good weather for an Irish summer:)

The year I left it rained so much there were towns actually flooded and my town had mud slides! This year the sun actually shone most days and Dad was complaining about the "heat" 28 degrees :D :D

Dad doesn't know he's born - 28 degrees is just perfect! I remember my gf went to England & all round GB & when it hit 30-35oC, everyone was in shorts and t-shirts and at the beach, & c/o the 'heat wave'! I laughed when I heard that - I think 25oC is cold! (but I'm a whimp, hee hee.... )

Yeah, 28 C is just my perfect too, did not like working in the 46 C for that week when the fires where here, though it did not feel as bad as the 38 C. Hopefully fires will not be a problem this coming summer. :D with all this dam rain and cold, this must be a result of the ice-bergs melting with the hole in the ozone layer....think not..:uhoh3:

also heard from a few people up in the snow.....biggest falls they have seen for years!

Every ski run is going every day at every resort....oh well there is a good to this cold weather...

Aw how nice. I have to say though I don't really know the four seasons LOL. I only have two (well three kinda). The Wet Season and the Dry Season..the third (unofficial) one is the Build Up. Which we are going into now. I wish it was raining here. It's freaking hot today! We didn't even get a good Dry Season (as in we got no cool days!!!)

Haha! one of the reasons he is unwilling to come and visit me............summer at home is winter here which means busy farming time. Visa versa and he knows he wouldn't be able to hack the heat!

I think everyone down south is ready for some sunshine. Couldn't handle the humidity of the build up or the wet myself! Fair play to you guys. 25 degrees is still a 'nice' day to me! Getting better at handling the hot ones. Was out bush in NSW 2 years ago in Feb for a few months nursing and it was hot and brown!

The humidity of the build up is evil even to people who grew up here(ie me). I swear it's getting worse every year. I can handle it pretty hot but still. I'm also a wimp with the cold - 25 is cold to me too!

aah can feel it now,, warm....vitamin D come to me.....
