A very strange thing happened today. Someone from US called me and asked why I want to work in Canada. He used to be an attorney in the US embassy and recruiting nurses for US. But since he knows about the retro, his now recruiting nurses for CAnada. But I think only in BC.

He said that his looking for 100 RN, with IELTS and already have a clinical experience at least 6 months. If CRNBC permits you to take CRNE, a hospital where his connected will sponsor those who were approved. He'll come here on April. Its worth to try! Just send me a PM and I'll give you my number.

This is part of the latest email he sent me....

Its a direct hire so they dont need to pay ANYTHING there, its only the POEA fees when they are about to leave for Canada.

The company will refund their expenses like, PRC certificate to CRNBC, TOR from School registrar to CRNBC, Ielts Review and Ielts fees to CRNBC, the CRNBC fees of $262.50 Canadian Dollars, fares to British Colombia.

All of these expenses will be refunded ONLY AFTER they are assessed by CRNBC and ACCEPTED the hospital offer.

I stand corrected. His not a lawyer. I must have misunderstood him on the phone. He works with them.

the reason why, is to START the CANADIAN HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION PROGRAM. Its like a review course with a cetificate for the nurse after passing the 40 hours course

Its a LEVERAGE for the board of nursing of the province involve, since the school is accredited with Canada Health Academy.

Its not a guaranteed that you will pass the CRNE , but the nurse will have a great impact if she understands the Canadian healthcare program.

Canada hospital employer of mine, will REFUND the course fees, after they signed the contract with the hospital.

All of these are ONLY possible after they are being assessed by any provincial Board of nursing, like CRNBC for Bc, CARNA for Alberta, CNO for Ontario, SRNA for Saskatchuwen etc....

So in short, they will orient us on the Canadian healthcare and what we want to know about Canada. But as stated above, we must be assessed by CRNBC at our own expense before this can be possible and we can refund all the expenses after being approved.

sounds nice. i have passed the IELTS, but currently i don't have any post-registration clinical experience. that's the problem

Please be very careful with any of these programs. Until you actually take and pass the CRNE exam, you are not working there in the role of the RN. Make no mistakes about that.

I do not trust any of them and you need to thoroughly do your research. Please read the other thread here on this forum that was started about other programs that are not as they seem.

Just please be very careful. And find out what happens if the nurse does not pass the CRNE the first time, what happens to them then?

And also be very, very aware of what the weather conditions are there in the winter, cold like you have never seen. Suggest that you check out some of the threads on the Canadian forum about the winter weather in BC. Many of you will not be able to tolerate the cold there.

Remember that this was sent to you by a recruiter, who is interested in getting paid by supplying nurses, not necessarily in your welfare. Do not be so fast in jumping at whatever comes your way, it may not be as it seems.

The whole thing sounds fishy to me.

One thing that leaps out at me, from the e-mail exerpts posted, is that I find it hard to believe anyone who writes such poor English would have ever been employed by a US embassy.

I would not even refer one person to someone like this. You will have to live with yourself for being involved with this in one way or another.

How did he get your name and e-mail address in the first place?

Sorry, but do not trust anything like this ever, especially when we have been seeing what has been going on in other countries, including Canada.

He is selling people as a commodity and he is not even the one making any of the decisions, he then needs to try and market the nurse to "people that he knows."

Sorry, but you are being taken for a ride. Suggest that you get specifics from him before you give his name to anyone. And if he is not very up front where you can check the information, please do not do a thing for him.

Suzanne is right, if anything bad happens to the RNs you have referred, you will part of the blame. I hope this will not happen. Just take extra cautious. Research his background or let someone look up his name in BC.

Just be careful, guys. There is definitely nothing wrong with meeting up and those stuff but don't do anything hasty and remember the red flags on how to spot bad agencies/recruiters that were discussed before.

Thank you for the reminders and comments. As what I've told you before, I'm just refering, and yes I fully understand that if something bad happens, I'm part to be blame. That's why I want you to talk to him and you'll be the judge if you want to trust him. If you think that his no good, then run!

and a bigger red flag that I am sure that many have not even thought of and that is that the monies paid will not be refunded until one has passed the CRNE in Canada. Licensure fees in Canada are about $500 per year to start off with and there is no mention of who will pay the fee for the POEA that is now over $5000 plus.

This is going to be more money than many can afford to spend. So please, do not get your hopes up on this. You are going to be spending money and alot of it before you even get to go to Canada.
