Hello. I am a recent graduate of a BSN program in CA. The average cost of a university is around $3000-$5000/year here in CA. I am not sure about other states..Also, none of the University of California schools offer a 4-yr. BSN program. They only offer BSNs if you already have an Associate's in nursing and an RN license. Your best bet is to look at California State Universities, as they offer the type of program you are looking for. Another option is to send your relative to school at a junior college to begin with and then just send her to an RN to BSN program AFTER she graduates from an associate's program. This process may take longer, however. Also, all CA nursing schools are impacted, meaning they all have long waiting lists. Each nursing school's selection process varies. Some schools select their nursing students through a lottery system, some do an interview, some do first come first serve, some base entrance off of academics. I was lucky when I went to apply 5 years ago, and my school did not have a waiting list! I hope this helps you a little bit. Mabuhay!

around php20K and above per semester

i think that's the average

if you can be more specific as to which school she will be attending, it will be much easier to give you more exact fees. range on average is about $300 to $600 per semester over there. and can be more, or even a little less, but very different from the us.

hello emetib! where does your cousin intend to attend college/university here in the philippines?

the cost of tuition and miscellaneous fees are quite high in metro manila compared to other cities around the country. it ranges from 18k-30k pesos in most schools, but for some reputable college/universities, it could range above 30k pesos.

may you also include the expenses on his/her cost of living: food, boarding home, transportation, and others.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Orthopedics.

Sponsoring all of her need not just her tuition would be a lot. Maybe 40k all in all. That estimation is from a good school...

40K pesos?

that would be very small if it's your estimation for one whole semester

first of all, i wanna say god bless your heart for being so nice. my sisters in the usa won't even help me study but my 77 year old grandma is.

she should attend a reputable school in manila or in the province because they are getting stricter here, those who don't have a lot of board passers will be forced to stop teaching nursing in their college or university. right now i'm attending fatima university in lagro, it's the cheapest school for nursing. 1 sem is around 17,000, there are 2 sems per year. 2nd year students expect to pay 20,000 per sem, 3rd year and 4th year students pay around 37,000 per sem. ofcourse this will go up every sem, so it will change. feu starts at over 30,000 per sem on the 1st year level. she will need at least about 3,000 for books alone very sem. coz in my school, most subjects have 1 reference book plus the teachers will ask you to buy books that can cost 1,000 and above each, on average they say of 2 of these books per semester. at my school now, after your 2nd year of college, every summer it's required to take up some subjects to graduate on time... that's another 10,000 to 12,000 per summer. if you'll send her to a boarding house in manila it will cost at least 2000 to 3000 per month. for food and daily allowance, 500 should be good. chickenjoy at jollibee is now 70pesos... plus teachers always ask you to buy things like lab gown, lab kit, photocopies of certain reading materials, scientific calculator, etc... etc... i hope these information help you.

P500 for food in one day? too much

P500 for food in one week? not enough

P500 for food in one day? too much

P500 for food in one week? not enough

that's breakfast, lunch, meryenda and dinner. here at fatima nga even eating at the turo turo costs around 60. i live on around $100 a week. that's including stuff like shampoo, toothpaste, wet towelettes, napkins, powder, etc, etc...

isnt $100 a week a little too big

well, anyway if you can afford, you're lucky

I would like to thank everyone for the advice and comments! It helps me a lot. Now i know my options and i an better prepare to give my cousin the education she deserves. I just believe in sharing my blessings. God Bless you all and thanks again for the comments.
