i'm sponsoring a cousin of mine who's in pi to go to a nursing school. my question is, how much will a schooling for bsn cost? :smackingf can someone please help me by giving me an approximate on tuition cost? i know it's a 4-5 yr course but i need help finding out how many semester it is and what's the tuition cost for each semester... it's so hard to find information over the internet and it's a waste of money if i call schools in pi one by one while i'm in the us. my cousin lives in the province and she doesn't have any access to internet. i'd really appreciate any help. pls reply here or

that's breakfast, lunch, meryenda and dinner. here at fatima nga even eating at the turo turo costs around 60. i live on around $100 a week. that's including stuff like shampoo, toothpaste, wet towelettes, napkins, powder, etc, etc...
i dont believe it cost 60 pesos to eat in turo turo. i am just recently graduated in OLFU-QC too and there's a place there where we used to eat our lunch and our budget was only 35 per meal and on our snack 20 peso is enough.

I just graduated in a university here in the phil in a nursing program and work at the registrar office and the admission office. this semester the tuition for the first yr stud is 16,900 with 27 units. the rate of the succeding semester would be around that price but it will be increase to 35,000-42,000 per semester if she/he will be in third year proper to fourth year. I think our university still has the reputation of giving cheaper tuition but a quality nursing education.
which university is that? is it in manila???

sorry but i don't think you were here after hillstar coz it's new now and it's what's here now at fatima lagro. also, i don't think everyone wants to eat at turo turo every single meal. you know sm is so nearby it's like an extension of olfu and i'm sure the 35 you're talking about comes with the free juice. what about those people who don't like that type of juice or iced tea and most of those don't look good or clean. sorry but, i don't wanna start a fight or anything. 20 for snacks, when a drink already costs 15. nursing is a very hard course, so a student must be well-fed. most of my classmates eat every break time because you always get hungry waiting for the next class and also from studying alot.my 5thousand pesos a week that's for school allowance, transportation and also expenses at home and school because don't live with my parents they are in the states. my sched is mostly 730am to 730pm so there are 2 or 3 vacants of 1.5 hours each. i know it's cheaper if you pay the tuition in full rather than installments. professors always have things for us to buy for class sometimes even without advance notice like photocopy costs of the quizzes. sometimes in one day all classes will have unannounced exams and then you have to pay for the copies, sometimes we tell ourselves, what if we were out of money? i guess that would depend on your relative you'll be helping. it may not be a good idea to spoil him/her. and i'm sure some will do with what they have. sometimes my friends and i cook and share in school, we just buy rice and drinks there so the store keepers will let us use their chairs and tables. there is no big canteen at fatima where anyone and everyone can use without having to buy from the merchants there.
i have a schoolmate who gets 5,000 a month allowance who lives with relatives, free food but he helps out too. but he only has 2 subjects. he says his tuition is already paid in full. i asked my good friend how much allowance a student renting in a boarding house should have, she said 10thousand pesos should be good.
Not sure about tuition fees. But I agree 100% in going to reputable schools. Where is your cousin now? if you post the province, maybe we could suggest a good school in the area.
if it's in manila and your cousin can pass the UPCAT, then UP Manila is your best choice. Next options are UST or UERM. These are big schools with a reputable college of medicine also and with no track record of anomalies and the like.St. Luke's/Trinity or even maybe PWU and CEU may be "back up" schools as well. just stay away from schools who either have problems with CHED permit or were involved with board exam (nursing or medicine) anomalies in the past.
In the provinces, some very good schools are De La Salle University Health Sciences campus in Cavite, La Salle Bacolod, Siliman University in Dumeaguete, and the Jesuit universities of course (e.g. Ateneo de Davao, Ateneo de Zamboanga or Xavier University in Cagayan De Oro).
If there are other state universities also offering nursing degrees may be quality and affordable alternatives as well (e.g. UP Visayas or Mindanao, PLM, etc.)
This is an important decision and big investment. Choosing the right school is very important. Goodluck!
most of the schools listed above this post can easily cost you 35k per sem. if you want quality yet low price, fatima and st. jude are good schools too. i've studied at feu and sorry but the quality of education in fatima seems better for the general curriculum is all i can speak for. i think most schools offering nursing has pretty much the same curriculum now because i'm attending school with a lot of trasnferees who were able to credit their subjects taken from other schools that also offered nursing. it's not the school anyway that makes the grade, it's the student. i'm asking my close friends, they say 10k allowance every month should be sufficient if one should be in a boarding house, that's without the tuition fees ofcourse.
^35K? maybe for the private schools in manila like ust and st lukes. but not those in the provinces and the state universities like UP Manila. Again, if you have what it takes, you could never go wrong with UP.
Again, check the integrity and track record of the school. If it has been involved with scandals and anomalies (eg fake board topnochers, leakages, permit problems)...forget it!

100$ a week??...When you live in Manila and you're single, you can spend a lot less than that coz the cost of living in Manila is not that high compared to other places in the world..

yes but still ridiculously high for a 3rd world country. my fare to and from school is: 12pesos tricycle, 25 fx, to go home, bus 10pesos, fx 20 and tricycle 20. that's for one day. 87pesos a day. some schoolmates even reside in pasay, banawe qc.. too much is spent on transportation. meals at mcdo and jollibee used to be 35, 39pesos... now over 70 for chickenjoy
it's too high but she can affordfor those whose families only have average income and below
1000 a week can be sufficient if budgeted properly
I spend a less than P1000 a week, coz I live with my parents in our own house, I dont pay any rent and meal and other stuff are free...My parents dont obliged me to pay for food and bills coz I only make 2,500-3000 per two weeks..but out of guilt, I pay for the phone bill...Fortunately and thank God, my parents are both self-employed and make more money than me, my father financially support my US exams...I couldnt thank them enough after I passed the NCLEX and IELTS..
Back to the topic, the average tuition for Nursing schools in the Philippines range from 25,000-45,000 per semester...but one should go for a nursing school which has a good reputation and has been established for years...I dont judge the new nursing schools but I think they are still adjusting...

Yes, you are very right...but I dont think it would reached to 100 US dollars per week unless you've spent more on food, clothes etc....it depends on the budgetting or vanity of the person..:wink2:
