    Nursing "asst" meaning assistant?
I'm sure it's in demand in a lot of places.
The problem is, nobody will sponsor you. Not in US for sure.

I think if nursing assistant is the right one then it will be hard for most countries as I think RN is the one needed for immigration anywhere
Last edit by Silverdragon102 on Jan 9, '06 : Reason: spelling RB instead of RN

You will be required to have an RN for immigration purposes for most countries.

Registered Nurse is what you will need to be for purpose of coming into the US to work. (immigration) You will not be able to come as nursing aide

Nursing aide program will not get you the green card, it may get you over as what we call "slave labor" here and you will not be able to live on the salary paid. So, you will only get here properly following the poper channels and getting your RN first.

A nursing aide and a nursing asst are essentially the same thing.

Hi Tagumpay. Is your girlfriend a nurse? If she is then you can be her dependent if you two marry before the approval of her petition. Then you may look for job in US as nurse aide. Unlike nurses, nurse aides are not in shortage demand in the US. So if you are planning to immigrate your case application at USCIS will be treated as an ordinary skilled worker which will take many years to be approved.
If she is not a nurse I recommend you consider Canada. They have a Provincial Nomination program that has less stringent requirements. The primary criteria is that you need a relative who is already settled in there to be your sponsor. There are no qualifying or language proficiency exams that you need to take. It took my friend less than a year to have her case approved and is now in Manitoba. You may search for that immigration program at the Canadian Embassy links.
    Goodluck!

to work in the states legally you need some sort of work visa and as nurse aide there isn't one available

There is no way for you to work in US as a nurse ass-t like that.
You must have a work permission. Otherwise it's illegal and nobody will hire you.
Becoming a nurse assistant will not do you any good.
The best thing to do is to become a registered nurse and then apply for permanent residency. This way you will be able to live and work in United States legally.
33 is not old AT ALL!!!
    Good luck.
