Chances of getting a nursing job after bridging. What are the factors?

Is there a high chance to get a nursing job in Australia after the bridging? Anyone knows what region or place in Australia still has a high demand for nurses? Thanks.. I am scared to waste my hard earned money..

Just a warning, when applying as work experience, must be as an RN for AHPRA and working in that capacity. When applying for work in Australia, it does not hold much weight that you were working as an EN, they are only interested in experience in RN capacity.

Immigration also will not consider work experience as EN if you are applying as RN, there is a difference.

Yeah i worked and still working as RN. I just wasted 1 yr 8 mos for that EN role. MAkes me think if the 2 years and more would be enough to think that i am on neonatal area.

hi ceridwyn, how would you assess the chances of a Filipino nurse with 1 year exp in ED or Theatre?thanks

hi gerly and kebz

are you guys applying for ahpra?may i know how many years of exp you have?

I'm planning to take the 1 year conversion program in Deakin. After that Deakin told me i am eligible for RN. Is this true? Also, what are the chances for no experienced new grads from Bachelor of Nursing?

Y would you go for the conversion program if you are a degree holder?

If u are a diploma holder then conversion is necessary and upon completion, certainly you'll be an RN.

Am not in Oz. really don't have idea. Still weighing my options.

Are experiences from home countries such as Philippines,India,Singapore, etc.. still counted as the "work experience" most hopitals need? Or do they mean work experience in Australia?

withdrawn post, resigning

Yes they do! As long as youre functioning as a RN they'll consider you. :D

The job market is getting tougher. I can confirm that. I finished the bridging program but haven't been lucky to find an employer during the duration of my visa. I am still applying and hoping that an employer will take notice of me, but I only get calls and letters of rejection. The main reason for which is that I am NOT currently in Australia. I also know of a friend who had the bridging program in 2009, but haven't found an employer up to now. We both have substantial work experience. Employers seem to prefer applicants who are IN Australia, than those offshore. Some of my friends have less than a year's experience, but still managed to get a job in Australia.

True. According to new stats July batch 2012 who finished BP at **** only had 3 filipinos got job in their batch and I think none in my batch as of the moment but don't worry they are still searching. I am just telling the truth but if there is progress or improvement in our job search I will try to repost.
