Chances of getting a nursing job after bridging. What are the factors?

Is there a high chance to get a nursing job in Australia after the bridging? Anyone knows what region or place in Australia still has a high demand for nurses? Thanks.. I am scared to waste my hard earned money..

Guys, here's the thing, everyone is posting how to go there and get there and come there into these bridging programs, but at the end of the day, we are NOT hearing from many others as evident in recent past years of "Hi, I GOT THE JOB", "I have an JOB INTERVIEW", "I START THE JOB SOON, etc, doesn't that tell you something?

It's very clear in my mind, the job market for nurses, be they of their own or international, is simply not there, it's not happening.

Now, let me clarify this: if it's the aged care, nursing homes, private caretaker jobs, that's NOT for ME, sorry, I prefer and desire to work in a hospital with pediatrics patients, I have many friends that don't care for the aged care or the likes (nothing wrong with these job fields, if that's your calling, go for it), but like many PH friends and batchmates, we want to work in ER, ICU, cancer units, peds, L&D, women's health and the vast specialities. There's so much more working as a nurse than being in the aged care and the likes.

We may hear of a friend or a person that got hired, but I ASK where? In a hospital? The reality is for every one job worker, there's 1,000's still looking for the first interview, the first call back, the first offer.

This is indeed evident. Experience and specialization are must haves to gain competitive edge in the market. I just wonder if I have enough of both with 1 year exp. Thanks for the feedback steppybay :)

Thanks for the reply sezza. Australia it is! However, the cost-effectiveness of bridging programs gives me the preemptive scare. Would private clinics/day surgeries be willing to grant sponsorship to foreign nurses? And by how much would the pay vary compared with public hospitals? Thanks!

To be honest I couldn't give you an exact pay difference but private clinics tend to have there staff on individual contracts. It's a risk you'll need to weigh up with paying for a bridging course without secure work. As others have posted australian isn't in a good way. Also employers have to prove that no local nurses are willing to take the job before offering to international nurses. The more experience you have (3 years plus is better in my opinion) and a willingness to work in rural/country area might be better for you. But in saying all this there isn't any guarantees. Also I'd be VERY cautious in what the universities/bridging programs say in regards to job prospects because they don't care if you get a job afterwards they already have your money :(

I concur, also an Australian nurse of many years and employer of nurses. Things have changed dramatically. Government now wants more proof that a local can not be found for a position. Money is so tight that employers have had to cut down in all places and if a position cannot be filled it is being reconsidered, how inhouse it can be covered. We are not to spend money on recuiting and sponsorship visa's without excutive okay.

Stories that ONE nurse has made it over 6 months ago, with no experience does not mean 200 nurses can do it today.

Thnk carefully and network with any other Filipino nurses that are working here, they may be able to find you are job..this can only be done in private or aged care....as may have been the case with the one nurse that did ner BP in february.

If you have 2-3 years in theatre or ED, there are chances for work.

After reading all the comments regarding this topic, it clearly showed most are negative. Anyway, I would like to ask if the "work experience" most employers are seeking is related to work experience in Australia or work experience in your home countries such as UK,Philippines,Canada,US, etc.. ? Also, if I have 2 years experience here in the Philippines, will I be having a hard time to find an employer to sponsor me? Looking forward to any replies. Thank you.

I am from Neonatal ICU, any idea of demand for nurses in the said area? I have a stable job here in Sg but I am after the long term effect of moving to Australia. I really am in doubt if my job here is worth risking for Oz or maybe I should try somewhere else first.

Competition is getting tighter for nurses in Oz huh. I don't feel much confidence risking my hard earned money for the BP without a sure job to land on. :(((

Any advice from those who had the BP or finishing with the BP with what the situation's like?

1yr and 9mos in ph both ms and nicu. Enrolled nurse 1 yr 8 mos nicu hospital . Rn since 2012 nicu ok women's and children's hosp and counting.
