LPN VS RN Pay

U.S.A. Indiana

I was wondering if people could give me some feed back on the rate of pay as an RN and LPN and what type of facility you are working in thanks :)

Specializes in M/S, LTC, Corrections, PDN & drug rehab.

I've made $18-22/hr as an LVN.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

Oops, not in Indiana...:wacky:

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

I work at a hospital as an LPN. I am a nurse with nursing responsibilities. Sad fact of the matter, new grad LPNs in a hospital (should they be lucky enough to get one) will start off at $14.36/hr. My hospital said my previous work experience did not count/factor into the pay scale because it was not acute care / hospital experience.

The following wages are for LPNs without work experience, fresh from school.

Hospital: $14.36/hr

Behavioral health: $~17-ish/hr

Methadone clinics: $15.50/hr

Rehab (Kindred): $21/hr

LTC (American Senior community): ~$17-ish

Corrections (Corizon): $14.69/h ($18.50 as prn)

grp home (Warner transitional): ~$19-$20/hr

Assisted Living (The Stratford): $19.5

St. Vincent clinic float pool: $17/hr

Agency (Maxim): $16-$19/hr

That's all I know from previous job offers I've received or have actually taken.

Oh and for the RNs I know of (without experience)....

St. Vincent: $21.6/hr

Community: $22.5/hr

Wishard: $20.50/hr (after one year: immediate jump to $21.5)

IU health: ????

Kindred (rehab): $29/hr

Corrections (corizon): $21.75 or maybe it was $23ish/hr- don't remember.

Agency (Maxim): $25-30+

I hope this helped compare pay rates in Indiana. I'm kinda a snoop when it comes to these things b/c i like to know how much I'm getting rolled over now as an LPN vs what it will be like when I'm an RN.

Thanks for this information.

I am an international student studying MSN with NP speciality. I am thinking of getting a job in between my masters to gain some experience and also stabilize myself economically. I have an active RN license and I am looking for a job in Lafayette area in Indiana.

Can you guide me about the kind of jobs I should look for?

I contacted with a nurse agency but they asked for work experience in US. Can you suggest me some other agency which doesn't require work experience?

I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Of course... Most are ASNs bc the BSNs flock to hospitals who generally prefer to have a higher BSN percentage of staff

Specializes in ED, Long-term care, MDS, doctor's office.

I worked at a Kindred rehab facility (left in April 2013) on the transitional care unit & my base pay was $24/hr. Evening shift diff was $1.50....When I was an LPN, I made $19/hr there. That was in 2007-2008.
