Hello Everybody!!

I thought I would go ahead and start a thread for the CHEM-101 online class for the Summer of 09.

Hopefully this can be a place where we can help each other out if any of us get confused!

friendly reminder.....

please do not post names as it is a violation of the terms of service (rules of the site) that you agreed to upon registration. this is a privacy issue. please refer to the following portion of the tos that addresses this:

no potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

sorry about that butterfly. we all get to know each other as cyber friends and sometimes forget when having casual conversation. Thanks for the reminder.

mama, do you have the light green book with flowers on it?

IndyIvy,

Yeah....I have the same book. The packet also came with GOB Cd and an instant access code to use on website.

I will be interested to see how different/similar out classes are.

I still don't see any labs listed for our course or any quizzes posted. Has anyone emailed the instructor? I think I might, just to make sure we aren't supposed to have anything yet.

I did find the sample lab, though...If you go to http://latenitelabs.com/default.asp and to the right is the column where we log in...in the center there is the large-ish graphic for the site, then underneath that there is a small blue oval that says sample lab. If you click that, it will open a small pop up window which should become larger and begin the sample lab. I found it helpful to do it just to get used to the controls and everything.

The syllabus says "each credit quiz will be will appear on the e-learning site by Monday of the listed week and will be available one week". I assume the lab will pop up at that time also. I think this week we may only read and do practice quiz and the first attendance quiz. I am ready to take first credit quiz and Lab right now. I am also frustrated, because I could get that behind me and spend Saturday and Sunday learning new material. I registered at the Lab ok. The other learning help with the 1pass access code is a problem for me. It takes me in a big circle with no study helps .

I found the same thing with the website, but truthfully I've felt that way about a lot of the textbook websites over the years. Very few have been useful. The only thing that I found helpful for the Chem book website were the solution manual corrections...The outlines/notes on the site are exactly the same thing that is on the CD in the book.

I am glad to know there is no loss. I will stick with the Book and CD, thats enough. I tried to get on Lab all day and look around some more. The out of service message keeps coming up when I try to sign in. I will be a mess if I have a Lab I can not work on because of this.

Same here! That's the message I'm getting, too. I'm so frustrated!

I was just going over my syllabus again...did you guys notice that the lowest single quiz grade and lowest single lab grade are replaced with the highest quiz or lab grade? Nice!

I wish I had that option in MicroBio201. I had the absolute worse Prof ever!
