NO, you will not be hired faster. Also out of the 7 males of an 70 student nurse graduating class the guys were treated with contemp and generally disrepectfully by all female professors. You will find resistance to your presence. Most resistance is from older nurses that still wear a flying nun skirt and hat or did a few years ago.

If the prof is part of the Nursing program, and she will be your clinical instructor in future classes, then you have a problem. Write up a brief statement with the names of anyone nearby that heard it and give to your DEAN of nursing, expressing your concern. Clinical classes are 100% OPINION grade!! I made it thru the program by a small margin. I have all As and Bs except for 2 profs that discriminated against guys. My personality and stratedgy got me through, I surrounded myself with credible students, when similar scenario(s) happened to me. I put the profs on notice with the Dean. I know for sure the old Female profs hate men being nurses. I feel your pain. This is not going away. Always be professional, never flirt even if you are flirted with. If you don't use the discrimination card, you will fail. I had a similar scenario happen early in the program, I brought it to the Deans attention, then 1.5 years later, the last class, last semester, a simple clinical of various exposures to different floors of the hospital, I was failing and mocked by the prof. She finally mocked me in public. My friends and the previous practice of discrimination got the prof an informal talking to which eased the pressure enough to get me a C for a final grade in the clinical. If you make it, you will have professional documentation and charting on your PTs which is alot of CYA, may as well start it now!

I am a new grad with a spiffy resume. I have applied repeatedly to FMC, cannot get to 1st base. I am envious. Which state is FMC hiring a new grad?

Well, I have over 75 applications out in Indiana to every hospital and outpatient clinic. I have a few bites with Nursing homes. I cannot get an Interview with a hospital. I am looking into multiple licenses also. I would go to any state any city in the country for a hospital job, but cannot find an add to send application to. I fill out on-line applications and send anyway. Sometimes they tell me to stop it. I think you should follow bagladyrn advice and tell them you will get the license immediately if they want you. Do you think a hospital is going to hire us over the phone? I can see traveling all over the country for a 20 minute interview competing with 10 other candidates for 1 position. Most of the time the position goes to an inside favor deal, they just need interviewees to make the process appear legitimate. We need a lot of nurses to retire, a lot of nurse schools to to put out less nurses, and legislation to stem the flow of foreign nurses in order to get a job. Sorry to sound like a bummer, but you are in a state of some odd 35,000,000 people. If there is no need for health care in Cali , you have to figure its worse else where. I talked to a few Nurses that want to try Cali, thinking the jobs are on the west coast.

What a catch 22. I am a new grad that has not landed the first Hospital job yet. I would like to make myself more attractive to hospitals HR hiring process and obtain a few certifications. The problem I have is understanding Legitiment courses and the verification process. Are these certifications on a registry?Am I able to check your certifications for validity? Is a hospital HR department able to verify mine? I see advertised on-line ACLS, PALS courses that DO NOT require a physical lab check off. Are these courses legitiment? It seems like official courses are sponsored by the hospital training unit. However, I do not see a governing body that keeps track and registers a name and assigns an "official" card. Anyone can say they took a class and present a certificate, "just call Cliffy's number on this paper, he will vouch for me" Is there a way to obtain legitiment certifications with out being employed by a hospital? As long as I am unemployed I would like to take telemetry and CCRN, ACLS, PALS.

I had same problem, I just went with the flow. These stupid nurse instructors go out of the way to announce you are male and a student. When I introduced myself the client never had a problem. I never witnessed the instructor announcing to a male client "a female nurse student" is going to put i a catheter in your urethra. Just get through school and be bigger than the stupid dinosaur prof. You need the grade.

I would like to know if anyone has tried the service or knows of a service. I am sure if you are a Florida Nurse the website is easy, just like the Indiana web site is easy for me. However; I spent 3 hours trying to get to first base getting a Florida license and am no closer then when I started. The site keeps trying to register me for NCLEX exam ect. I would gladly pay for someone to take my information and get it going.

I feel 50 lbs lighter! Whew a load off. I used exam cram and Hurst review. Spent 4 hrs a day for 3 weeks approx 200 questions a day, then look up rationales of the ones I missed. NCLEX was easy, took an hour for 75 questions and knew it was shutting off.

Kokomo is MS3 lecture and Psyc lecture on same day, 12 hr MS3 clinical the next day and 6 hour Psyc clinical the following day....sleep,whats that?

Black board crashed everywhere. I got back on later. I wanted to print off the next set of lecture notes and print off practice quiz 5 and 6, also see if my grade was posted. The board crash on me also. I would send a message to the prof so he is aware of it. I will send one too.

I missed the first one, got mixed up on -2 or times 10 positive and positive 2.

I completed the Lab,saved it, printed it. I do not knowhow to submit if I wanted to. I saw the submit button initially before starting the lab, but after I completed it the submit was no where to be found. Did anyone else have this experience??

I wish I had that option in MicroBio201. I had the absolute worse Prof ever!
