I'm glad you're enjoying it! I know I've kind of been a "Debbie Downer" with some of the things I've had to say about my experience with the program, but it's been more because there were certain things that I didn't know when I started and it was a huge let-down. I guess I didn't want anyone else to feel that way. I'm still considering coming back to CLC, but I have been checking into a few other programs. I'll admit, I miss being in nursing school. And I miss the cameraderie of my fellow nursing students. You won't find that anywhere else, I'm sure!

I really thought they would have changed the PE by this semester, so I'm a little sad that they haven't. You see, unfortunately I've seen some pretty bad things happen, thanks to that PE. There are a few teachers in the program that still hold tight to the theory that the PE is the best way to test students and I know they've raised a lot of opposition to changing it. But, fortunately, there are some really great teachers in the program who are against the way they do the PE, so I think in the end, they'll win out.

Good luck with it. I'll be around the message boards so if you need to vent during that time period, I'll be here to "listen!" It will be a time of high stress, but most people do come through it with flying colors. Just continue to practice, practice, practice! Go through the scenarios over and over again. That's even more important than studying the content. And most of the lab assistants are really awesome about helping you. I'm cheering you on!!! :specs:

Hey there...thanks for cheering me on!!! I can use that!!! I know my instructor said they are looking into it and it seems like she and some of the others think it would be wise to change it up a bit...not get rid of them, but make it different. We shall see...

And by the way, not to worry about being "Debbie Downer". You are not the only one I've heard complain about the program. I think they will make changes eventually...not sure when though!

Feel free to PM me...I don't get on here nearly as much now that I'm in school, but try to every now and then!

Hi, West Suburban has an entirely night & weekend program as well to become an RN. They even have an entirely night/weekend FastTrac program to a BSN if you've already got a bachelor's in another field. Its super close to the city.

Wright College offers an evening LPN program through its Humboldt Park Vocational Center location. They hold two class sessions each year. A few prerequisite courses are required, however these are identical to those that you would need for further study.

I believe Elgin Community College offers night classes. I have a friend who just graduated and she was remarking on how the day class had a better outcome than the evening group on the HESI.

Don't know how far it is from where you live. Good luck

The advice provided is largely dependent on where you live. Very FEW suburban nursing programs will admit an out of district student. Most give a preference to in district applicants and rarely have space for others. I currently attend Oakton and they have a wonderful program, but the same rules apply.

One caveat might be if you worked full-time in the area. Many schools afford in district status/tuition rates for students employed in the area.
