Does anyone have any recent experience with Gentiva Home Health or Hospice?

Worked for them prior to the big scandal. Was pleased, particularly with my DPCS at my local office, but that was back then. Could not speak for the company at large, especially since all the trouble.

I would like to know how they are now too. I am a graduate nurse and have had a phone interview with them. I've never done adult home health before and am nervous considering the past comments. But there is nothing about what they've been like in the past 3 years.

Hi @SOFLORN i tried to PM you but it said your inbox was full so i'm writing you here. i read your post about attending Long beach city college and would love some advice on ways to increase my chances of getting in the college and really appreciate your help. GPA? Also i have five years CNA experience in mental health. Would it help if i had any research/lab/shadow experience or took a Spanish class to show my diversity? lastly, who did you ask for letter of recommendations? thanks again and have a great day! :)

My HH experience with them has been AWFUL...I've only been there 3 months, but I'm out as of this Friday. I just can't take it anymore.

Soooo after reading all these threads about Gentiva and doing some research by networking in my area and finding out from people who have worked for them, I am not going to take the HH RN position they offered me. I cannot afford to trade misery for another miserable job. All the reviews I have read/heard about this company are horrible...and sounds like a recipe for disaster. Guess I'll have to stick out M/S tele for a little longer until something opens up at another facility/unit for me. My hospital does have their own HH company so maybe they would be the best route to get into HH? Ughhhh the journey of where to go in nursing continues on for me...

Transitioning to HH from within your current employment setting is a terrific way to go. You retain seniority and compensation package most likely and don't have to trade in your hard earned PTO.

I interviewed with Gentiva and they were awful! They told me and another nurse two different stories, talked out both sides off their you know what, bad online reviews = NO WAY! I waited until a position opened up in the hospitals HH dept and transferred. So far so good! Like the previous poster said, by staying within the hospital, I retained my seniority, PTO, etc. and if I ever want to transfer back to acute care I can do so. Good Luck!

Yeah, I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm doing a ride along with another HH company that's smaller than Gentiva tomorrow but I'm still nervous to leave my company...especially if I end up hating it. Will a ride along give me enough of an idea if HH is the right fit for me? Should I hold out for a HH position within my company? I see them once in a while posted.

I commented on your other thread in the general discussion, the answer is no except for seeing the environment (some anyway) and the

patient interaction but that is only part of it.
