Didn't walk today. We went to the pool. I am trying to learn how to coordinate my breathing. I used a pool noodle to help me stroke/breathe and it seemed to help. Lunch was better today. Fed the kids preservative free ham sandwiches on orowheat bread and gave the cinnamon wheat thins. Not a perfect hit but oh well. we had the fruit chew snack things that come in different characters: Scooby Doo, and Diego. The boys enjoyed them then used their bug catchers to catch ants and a spider. Hopefully we won't be finding Mr. Spider in our home tonight. we located Mr. and Mrs. Snail in the play room, 2 weeks ago.

    Goodnight all.
And you made sure they ate the fruit chewies, not the bugs? lol

Love the "me" and "dh" smilies

good to see you gentle and llg . welcome back.

you guys are doing great. i haven't been doing *too* badly myself. i've gone to the gym and running a few times last week and (other than today, ugh!) have been eating better. i've tried hard to make sure i'm hungry for awhile before i eat--that way i eat less and enjoy it more.

hey tweety, i've resurrected an old post you made and i had a question about it--it's health, or at least germ, related .

a couple of times a week i spray workshoes with lysol. i doo my regular shoes too, but that's because i have stinky feet.

here's my (very dumb) question. do you spray the outside or the inside of your shoes and does it work? does it irritate your feet at all? i've got three 12's a week now and it's a long time to keep feet in shoes, lol. i want to go back to dansko's, but they don't have a heck of a lot of ventilation.
    hi hiker!
re: multiple 12 hr shifts - bring a second pair of shoes to work. change shoes 1-2 times during shift. (you do take time to pee, right? multitask and do it then.) feet feel better for the change and don't get nearly so sweaty.
    happy walking!

Changing shoes midway through is a good idea. I hadn't thought about that. I was planning on bringing a separate pair of shoes only for work and keeping them in my locker; with the NICU babies being so immunocompromised I hate the idea of bringing something in as much as I hate the idea of bringing something out. Are you suggesting I now have to buy TWO new pairs of shoes??? I could probably talk myself into that fun task .

As far as peeing. . . the bathroom is sooooo far away. I do try, though .

Have you heard anything about DH's job? Of course with all your travelling (not to mention writing papers--I'm not jealous of that, LOL) maybe you haven't been around enough to hear? Are you looking forward to potentially moving? Sometimes a change feels pretty good.

    Hiker and Bluehair,
TWO pairs of shoes, eh? Sounds good to me too.

    Zoe,
No bugs eaten that I am aware of, thank goodness.

    Good evening everyone,
today wasn't as good as the others. Mainly because, I didn't get my walk in today. My buddy told me to lay low today because, I have a cut on my toe. Only down for today and tomorrow though. Funny thing is that, I don't feel good anyway. Strange how that works out huh? Oh well, if I physically feel better in the morning, I may sneak that walk in anyway .

Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow.

    Hi blue. Hi Hiker.

Zoe, you did Great. Heck I don't feel like exercising when Aunt Flo and Cousin Cramp come to visit either. Ya know maybe it would be better if their dang visit wasn't so dang long. Oh well . . . .

Anywhoosie, 3mile walk completed today. Finished with yoga stretch to prevent pain. Still thinking that I might need to incorporate more weight training in my workout. somewhere I've gotta book about this, I think?!!??????? Oh, dear, I know I went to the library to get a book about this, now where did I put it? I'll try the kitchen counter in the morning.

Eating was okay today, but not enough vegetables for any of us. Oh well tomorrow is another day. maybe eggs and spinach? I don't know.

Oh well, good night everyone. Have a good day tomorrow.

P.S. I haven't found any other snails in the house. Hurray!!!!

Never heard of Cousin Cramp, really - I don't get them too bad. I DO get irritable tho in case you haven't read my p soup saga the last few days ... that is done with THANK YOU GOD! ( \O/ on my knees with praying hands raised up high...) -

Congrats on all your exercise! Wow! As to losing stuff - oh my gosh - (shaking my head and opening eyes wide) - I am just AMAZING the stuff I lose... and I'm not that bad a pack rat so I just don't understand...

Eggs and spinach... do you mean together?? or ... ?

TG for NO SNAILS! Found a ton of ants at the front door of my building today tho, someone had spilled food - they looked like fire ants - I washed it and them away - no no no, not coming into MY house ...

Yup, 2 pair of shoes are better than one, especially when they are a tax deduction! Which they would be when you leave them at work!
No real word yet on DH job. Denver hasn't called yet this week, tho Bakersfield has been playing phone tag trying to set up a second interview. Either place is fine, we aren't looking at either long term at this point. The purpose is to boost his retirement pay, so camping anywhere for a few years works just fine. Meanwhle I am not sure what I want to do when I grow up. I look at job openings in both areas and think 'I've already done that, what else is out there?'. Guess that's the problem of being a 'seasoned' nurse. I know what I don't want to do more than what I do want to do. Perfect job for me = no more than 32 hrs/week, days, most weekend/holiday shifts off but a few won't kill me. And NO ON CALL!!! Other than that, no idea.
Off to the treadmill and a quick yoga tape before work. Clawing my way back onto the wagon!

    Hi Zoe,

I think I saw the book on the kitchen counter. :uhoh21:not ready to look under the pile though. [Zoe, we are terrible pack-rats. Even after we clean things out, we just bring more back in. oh well . . . one day . . .]

Instead I washed the clothes. You know how it is, time to wash the clothes or everyone stands around in underwear . Sooooo, the laundry is almost finished. I still have to wash all the sheets but we now have plenty of clean nice smelling clothes for the week. :spin:. [My mommy would be so proud .]

No, I haven't read your p soup saga. I'll have to go back and find it.

As for the snails, things still look good: as in no snails indoors .

We have a small pool in our community so I swam 4-5 laps this evening. I couldn't swim longer otherwise I would. Oh my swimming is not the beautiful smooth effortless swimming one might think of. Oh no, my swimming is "the please help me get to the place where I can touch or I will die from drowing" stroke. I think it might be getting a tad better on the count that no people observing looked as frightened this time. And it does help that the pool is only 5feet at the deepest part. That said I am only 5ft 2in soooo yep over my head. anyway, it is motivational, right?

Now then, about that spinach and eggs . . . umm, yes, we mix them. it's called scrambled eggs with spinach. Okay so we are not the most original family but, hey it's workin for us. This ended up being dinner. The boys had cereal and yogurt for breakfast.

Whoa, sorry to hear about the ants . . . and fire ants at that. Not too nice if they get grumpy. How long did it take you to finally get rid of them? Was anyone stung? Hope not.

Ahhhh, the food trail. yeah that happened over here alot too with the boys. now that the pest people come to spray, we don't seem to have an ant problem anymore.

It's time for me to go. Goodnight everyone. Have a good day tomorrow.
