Feeling down no job as A RN

Nurses Stress 101

Published

I've been working at a hospital for two years as a Assistant in nursing AIN/CNA's. I dealt with all kinds of things aggressive patients, unimaginable faeces, disrespectful families.

I've graduated from my Registered nurse programme 2 months ago. I applied for a new grad programme at the same hospital i work in but didn't get it in. I applied once more in casual pool, today i received an email saying they I had been unsuccessful. I feel cheated by the hospital especially since my other Assistant in nursing colleagues received a new grad position but i didn't.

Right now i'm just looking in the internet searching up were can i apply but it seems most places want a nurse who's done a new grad. I'm not giving up hope but i just feel down.

I got work tomorrow and other nurses are asking me when i'm going to leave since they all know i'm graduated now. I've been asked when are you going to work as a new grad so many times and i say to them i didn't get a new grad and then i feel self pity and them pitying towards me.

Seems like most likely is to relocate or move into navy nursing which I wouldn't mind.

Sorry for the rant just had no-one to listen to my problems, and i know theres worse problems out there in the world but can't seem to get it out my head instantly

The hospital didn't cheat you unless you signed a contract with them which I doubt you did. However I can understand your frustration. I would suggest looking beyond this one hospital and applying to various other hospitals in the area, or even outside of the area if you are open to that. You could also consider discussing with your current manager about future opportunities that may become available. Good luck.

Agree with the other posts, just keep pressing forward. Try to find out why they did not hire you at your old place of employment and why did an interview go bad (then use that experience for next time), keep looking and applying, make sure you have a up to date and well written resume (sometimes a professional can help) and practice interview questions. Sometimes it takes more than a few interviews but you will find something soon. Don't spend negative energy worrying about what others think, it will just drag you down. Just keep going, keep a positive attitude, research and learn, it will come. Good Luck and Congrats!

A nursing home will hire you in a hot minute, try that out.
