Doctor told me to remove sling after hoisting patient.
I'm a new grad RN and I work at a rehab unit, myself and another nurse had hoisted a 120kg patient onto a water chair, after setting the patient down onto the water chair I made sure the, plastic buckles of the sling were not in contact with the patients skin. The doctor came in at noon and told me to remove the sling because it can rub on the patients skin and cause a pressure injury. I was conflicted at this situation because the patient can not roll onto his side because there is no space on the water chair, also you could not remove the arm sides of the water chair, and to add to that the patient could barely move even if i wanted to remove the sling the patient to sit-up by himself and remove the sling it would not be possible. LET alone putting back the sling on the patient while on the water chair would be impossible causing back injuries. I've worked as an AIN at a neuroscience unit and i vaguely recall that hoist patients have their slings on them while sitting on chair or wheelchair. Can any experience nurse or physiotherapist enlighten me on this subject.

Patient called me idiot WWYD?
I'm an assistant in nursing at a hospital. This occurred during night shift last night. Me and the registered nurse woke the patient as he was going to receive some IVabx. The RN leaves the room to tend to some other patients. A few minutes later the patient tells me to open his top drawer as it is locked, this is where we keep his medications. I ask the patient why and he states that he takes his medication at 5am in the morning 2 hours before a meal. I say to the patient i am not permitted to give medications or open the drawer as I am a assistant in nursing. I check the chart and see that for the previous days the patient has been self administering the medication and the timing of the medication says 8am. I call the RN and inform her of the situation. Me: The patient wants me to open his drawer because he takes one of the medications at this time RN: Checks the medication chart and says that the medication is due 8am. and leaves the room to tend to her other patients. I go back to the patient to inform them that the medication chart states that the medication has been given in the previous days at 8am with a self administering mark. I tell him i can't give him the medication as I am a AIN. I tell him I will inform the doctor so that he can discuss with you and change the timing of the medication. At this day you will need to take the medication at 8am. The patient says to me "idiot" I wrote on the patient notes on what happened. What would you do in this situation? I can't believe people are so disrespectful when your just trying to help them out. I felt like saying if I'm an idiot for following doctors orders that doesn't make sense!?

Feeling down no job as A RN
I've been working at a hospital for two years as a Assistant in nursing AIN/CNA's. I dealt with all kinds of things aggressive patients, unimaginable faeces, disrespectful families. I've graduated from my Registered nurse programme 2 months ago. I applied for a new grad programme at the same hospital i work in but didn't get it in. I applied once more in casual pool, today i received an email saying they I had been unsuccessful. I feel cheated by the hospital especially since my other Assistant in nursing colleagues received a new grad position but i didn't. Right now i'm just looking in the internet searching up were can i apply but it seems most places want a nurse who's done a new grad. I'm not giving up hope but i just feel down. I got work tomorrow and other nurses are asking me when i'm going to leave since they all know i'm graduated now. I've been asked when are you going to work as a new grad so many times and i say to them i didn't get a new grad and then i feel self pity and them pitying towards me. Seems like most likely is to relocate or move into navy nursing which I wouldn't mind. Sorry for the rant just had no-one to listen to my problems, and i know theres worse problems out there in the world but can't seem to get it out my head instantly
