Anyone ever been on the Nutrisystem diet?

by DolphinRN84 Platinum Member

I was just wondering if anyone on here has tried Nutrisystem. A coworker of mind used to be on it and she lost 17 pounds. I am interested if it gives good results...feel like I should lose some weight (like 20 pounds). Felt kind of "fat" lately..

I've never done it, but a few coworkers have, and they've told me the food tastes horrible. I believe all but 1 gave up on it.....

I tried the Nutrisystem program in early 2006, and the meals did not appeal to my tastebuds at all. To be perfectly frank with you, I found the food to be disgusting.

I have lost a significant amount weight since last summer by doing things the old-fashioned way, through limiting my caloric intake and exercising regularly.

I did it and I liked the food. Of course I like anything I don't have to cook. It was basically a very expensive way of controlling portions. You were still hungry when you went to bed at night. Sadly, I haven't found the secret to weight loss other than healthy eating, portion control and exercise.--And going to bed hungry.

Try eating more food. Stop with the portion control and do proper balancing of meal parts (proper amount of carbs, protein etc). Do proper exercise, less aerobic more anaerobic. You will find that you lose fat faster this way. I went pseudo-vegetarian and pretty much eat every hour. The only time I am hungry is when I wake up and a protein shake cures that quickly. I also consume 3000 calories a day, ride an elliptical for 45 minutes 3 times a week and do moderate weight lifting on the alternate 3 days. Went from 320 to 235 in 7 months.

Don't forget, you want fat loss NOT weight loss. Waiting for weight to go down is a bummer, you can lose whole fat % of your BMI and not lose more than 5-10 pounds.

It's not quick and it's not easy but it's really the only way that always works. Everything else is a fad and only works with a few people.

As far as portion control, bah I eat until I am stuffed, literally every time. However, 3-5 pounds of Veggie products a day does NOT make you fat. Before anyone nay says. Do research, watch what athletes eat. The only other method that has guaranteed success is the hardcore military boot camp method but no one has the time to do that much activity on a daily basis and be a nurse.

Wow thanks for all the feedback! I was a little hesitant about the nutrisystem. Not really planning on doing it though..but I remember I lost like 20 pounds in like 3 months when I was away at college my first semester. I lived in a dorm that was up a very steep hill and I walked it every single day..as well as change some of my eating habits..like eating more salad and what not..but didn't change too much. I went from 145 to about 125 in about 3 months. I'd really like to get back to that weight again. I haven't really weighted myself but I can definitely feel some weight gain. Again, thanks for all your replies!

The food is pretty bad-I tried it and just couldnt do it. Maybe that is why people lose weight--they dont eat????

Well I googled for reviews on certain diets this morning and this is what I found: http://www.topdietreview.com/. Obviously I still want to do some research, but I think I'll reconsider and try Nutrisystem. The site gives people's reviews about each diet which helps a lot!

If I were you, I would only buy a limited supply of Nutrisystem food to see how you'll like it. In other words, test before you try. In my opinion, I found their meals to be certainly gross and disgusting.

Yeah I was thinking of testing it before trying it. Thanks Commuter!
