Anyone ever been on the Nutrisystem diet?

Nurses Stress 101

Published

I was just wondering if anyone on here has tried Nutrisystem. A coworker of mind used to be on it and she lost 17 pounds. I am interested if it gives good results...feel like I should lose some weight (like 20 pounds). Felt kind of "fat" lately..:(:uhoh21:

A woman that I am friends with on another online forum has been on NS for 3 1/2 months and has lost 40 pounds.

She said that there are a few food items that she didn't like, but overall, she said it has been one of the first diets that has actually worked for her. She said that she always makes sure to eat the allowed fruits and veggies for the day and drinks plenty of water.

She also likes the fact that she doesn't have to prepare the food, count points or measure out portions.

Another person on the same site swears by WW.

Another by non-stop exercise.

I guess it is whatever works for each individual. :heartbeat

Tweety,

"Back in the day" the first time I did WW, it was more of an exchange system where you were expected to eat so many servings of fruit, veg, protein, etc. every day. I think for people with limited knowledge of proper nutrition this was a better program because it taught you how to eat healthy. Didn't offer much flexibility for eating out though.

I'm doing WW now, and while you do have a number of points, you are also expected to eat certain things throughout the day (5 servings of fruit/veggies, 2 servings of dairy, etc.). That's part of the program. Seriously though, I had tried and tried to lose weight and have NEVER had success until now. I've lost about 25 pounds in 8 months. It's a long period of time, but I have also not followed the program while on vacation, and have had a couple of weeks where I "cheated." I also haven't exercised as much as I should because of a crazy scheduled with work/school. But, overall, I really have never felt this in control of my eating. However, I also agree with a previous poster who said that eating out is hard. If the restaurant has their nutrition info. on their website, you can easily calculate the points, but otherwise it can be really difficult to try to estimate. And personally, I'd much rather eat at a non-chain restaurant.

I'm on the online only WW program, by the way. I wouldn't do well having yet another obligation on my plate (going to meetings), so this option really works well for me. Cheaper than the meetings too.

Good luck to everyone out there in their weight loss journey!

I just wanted to say congratualtions for your weight loss!!! :yeah: There is nothing wrong with taking 8 months to lose 25 pounds. I think it's terrific that you've done that!

For many people, the weight took years to creep on, so I always tell people not to expect it to come off over night. It often seems that with weight that the comes off slowly, keeping it off seems a bit easier.

Have you considered Jenny Craig. There food is about 150 dollars per week, but it really just replaces your grocery bill. The food is so much better, especially the frozen entrees. I really works for busy professionals.

i have read some strategies recently; one was geared toward eating 35g of fiber daily... another is the "clean eating" concept, which is basically eating fresh whole foods very often and staying far away from artificial ingredients including artificial sweeteners. tosca reno has put out several books & there is a magazine. there are recipes & healthy substitutions for common "bad" ingredients. i like the plan but the down side is all organic fresh foods can get a pricey, some ingredients can't be found locally but i have found some on amazon & order in bulk. as noted in previous post for shift workers and staff nurses, grazing is a luxury.

i started nutrisystem on august 11th. a friend of mine lost over 40lbs in a year of following the program. back in 2005-2006 i lost 80lbs following the south beach program overtime i drifted from those habits and gain back 70 of that in the last few years. i decided i should get back on a program since what i was doing wasn't working.

i need things to be simple and easy to prepare and nutrisystem is great for people who like convience. everything is prepackaged and properly portioned. you supplement the program with fruits and veggies since that wouldn't be very good prepackaged. you can either order the "favorites" package or pick your own. i tried the "favorites" package and found things that i definately like and also found stuff i will never order again. everyone has their own preferences but if you are used to frozen meals from lean cuisine, health choice, etc you should have no trouble finding something you enjoy in ns.

in the 18 days that i have been on the program i have dropped 18.7 lbs doing some extra exercise on the side which is recommended but not required for success.

for those of you wanting to get an extra discount i can provide you a referral code at it will entitle you to $30 off your first order. if you are new to nutrisystem it should work just fine. if you are coming back to the program and have been inactive for more than 4 months it should also work for you too. here's all that you need to do:

email [email protected] and put in the memo ns referral and i will send you a code within 24 hours. if you have more than 1 person signing up and need more than one code please let me know. this should work if you do it online or call in your first order.

i was amazed at the number of people complaining about this program i just don't understand why it is pretty easy to follow and i don't feel hungry at all!

Nutri System is the most discusting food I have EVER ate. It was so bad that I would rather NOT eat. I would only eat that food if I was on a deserted Island with no other alternative or starving! I ended up sending back the food. The guy at the UPS office said that they get LOTS of returns EVERY week so I know I wasn't the only one.
