Any Cyclists out there?

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Just curious how many of us are active bicyclists? I have been trying to get into a routine to ride about 3-8 miles every other day and 20 miles 1x/wk or once every 2wks. I find that I feel better after a good ride and can relax really well when i get back home. I have not thought of replacing my car for commuting, b simply like to ride to stay in (somewhat of a) shape.

I bike to and from work often, I enjoy a ride to work. Loosens me up, relaxes me, energizes me to face the shift. After work biking home, relaxes me better than a glass of wine. Very chilling and soothing. Distances you from work emotions by the time you get home. I like that.

You are AWESOME! How far are you from work? I live 30 miles & work 7a-7:30p. I'm just not up to it yet. I would LIKE to be & keep thinking of it. I just can't picture it yet.

What kind of bike do you have?

Do you bike in your scrubs?

Do you keep all your stuff @ work?

I have soooooooooooo many questions for you!

Well guys...I'm off for my 15 miler & then hitting the pool before my day begins.

I, too, would like to hear what she does. I am also about 20 miles from my job and live in the country. So, riding at that time just isn't that feasible nor safe!

I'm about 15 miles from work, I carry my clothes in a back pack, and change at work. There is a shower in the nurses lounge.

Beautiful set up! Some day...

I'm less than 2 miles away. Biking to work was a big consideration when my husband and I were shopping for houses!

Luckily, my worksite provides uniforms, so I can just wear what's comfortable to work.

Paddlelady, what did you do in snow? Did you change tires or otherwise winterize your ride? Also, what are your recommendations for cold/wet gear?

Beautiful biking weather this past week. Seems like you could just bike on to infinity

Used to race for Athletes by Design amateur cycling team. A few of the guys have even spent time in Europe trying to break into the pro ranks. Nowadays, I ride non-competitively, though I'd love to start racing again.

I do remember hating biking, though - when I was trying to ride my mountain bike as a road bike - ohhhhhh so tiring!

Hmmmmm, dunno what type of mtb you have, but a light xc bike set up with slicks works well for general road riding/commuting (.....dunno if I'd necessarily want to ride a century on my Fuel w/ slicks, but it's fine up to 30 miles+). Roadriding a dh bike would be not fun, am sure :uhoh3: I love mountainbiking, and enjoy road riding....but can't afford a dedicated road bike, so slicks on the Fuel, stiffen up the suspension, and it's all good
