  1. What was your TEAS score for KCC?

9 members have participated

Hi All,

I am curious as to what a competitive applicant has for an ATI TEAS score, GPA, prereqs. I understand the minimum TEAS was 78, but it has been temporarily lowered to 65.

Obviously, the higher the scores the better, but what does an average accepted applicant's scores look like?

What is a solid TEAS score for acceptance, do I have to score in the 90s or are scores in 70s adequate?

Do most selectees earn A's on their Zoology and MICR, or are B's competitive? Essentially, I am wondering if I should fork out additional money to retake the zoology classes to raise the B's to A's or is that an unwise use of tight funds?

Any guidance is appreciated.

Coug, Yea, I just got back from dropping my paperwork off at Webster Hall and they do not accept anything from the Red Cross any longer, only American Heart Association. The class will be free we will only have to buy the book, which I probably already have.

I'm dropping it off/mailing it in tomorrow. Work is super busy right now. I also have to talk to some of the financial aid folks about maybe getting an increase on my loan capacity. Second bachelors students don't receive much grants, just more loans. :(

Will you be working during the semester?

I just turned my deposit and comitted to the program today as well. I'm gonna give my spot on the alternate list at KCC up for UH, has anyone else decided to do that? I've heard so many great things about UH's simulation lab, and I'm really excited to start working with it.

I too am a second degree student and I'm planning on continue to work with a few clients with my home health care agency. Is anyone else in a similar boat?

Yay a free class! Did you check out the uniforms? Do they run a bit slim?

Woohoo congratulations K9005!! Oh, and welcome to allnurses.

I'm also a second degree student. Well, from google and a couple of post on allnurses, I noticed that the second bachelors degree students don't get much financial aid. Most of the aid will go to masters entry students. The second bachelors degree students can ask for government loans only if they didn't exceed the cap for their previous school loans.

Thank you! I went to the bookstore today and I felt that the uniforms actually ran a bit big.

Do we have to purchase our own uniforms at the bookstore or will they be sending the ones we ordered to us somehow? There were no clear instructions and no payment option on the forms

Hi K9005, congrats! Yeah I will be turning down my alt spot at KCC as well for UH and taking the bird in hand. You will have to purchase your uniforms at the bookstore, you list the sizes just so they know roughly how much to stock. Luckily you are female and they have lots of polos in you sizes, they had to look in the back to find a couple for me in men's (that fit).

Anyone start the TB and titers? I have all titers but no lab reports so I cant use it. But the TB test is a two parter that can be thrown off by immunizations sometimes, so do TB first, shots second. Since we are transferring I think we also have to do the UH manoa health clearance forms too, same stuff, different forms. Man this is kind of a lot of stuff, and our financial aid stuff too.

I finished the TB 2-step Friday and they gave me several titers, with results, so I think I should be good.

WOW!! great news for you guys! So happy you got into to UH!

Ellers, i never applied to UH, my test scores were not good enough. It sounds like there are a few more spots opening though.

Im super excited for CPO and Cougar. The journey begins=)

Roz I just looked at the class availability for KCC and saw that it changed from 30 to 18 so I called KCC and they confirmed it. Did you hear anything back from KCC?

Thanks for your help! I will be making my way back to uh this week. For a few polos. I've heard from a second semester nursing student that we will be expected to wear our uniforms on at least one day of orientation so I'm making sure to get some in my size before they run out!

ahh noo....omgosh! i hope we get in!! Did they say they mailed out letter again?
