Is it true that Army Nurse Corps (Reserve) total money of $65,000 ($50,000 HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM (HPLR) ADN degree + $ 15,000 ADN degree) goes straight to the bank account??? Did anyone really get this amount of money for 6 years contract??? I want to get as much as I can before I burn in hell J:confused::up::down:

The active duty loan repayment is up to 114k, the reserve loan repayment is up to 50k.... you will need to talk to a recruiter to see your obligation for a bonus + a loan repayment.

Check out the link below - it gives a quick summary of incentives for both active duty and the reserves - courtesy of goarmy.com

Hi,

I have an agreement for $30K signon (for BSN, MSN) and $50K loan repayment--for 6yrs of ANC-RC Drilling...( plus 2 of IRR, everyone who signs gets 8yrs. Some just have IRR for longer).

Of course, everything is taxed----

Why would you burn in hell......? :) I don't plan to!

Thanks for all the repliesJ I said hell, because the unit down here is doing 6mos to 1yr rotation or extended at Afghanistan or Iraq (you'll never know what you going to getJ) and most recruiters will do everything to give a young/old person a cheap deal to serve the people and the country (sad, but true)J. I want to serve and be all that I can be. I want to get as much information as I can before I talk to him/her so we can get everything down on paperJ I also just want to know if someone got the loan repayment and did anything he/she wanted with it, such as shopping, car payments, pay off credit cards and personal loans or mortgages without any problems or too much requirements. I am asking a lot about money (which is not enough anyway versus life) because I met a pharmacist in the military who did not get anything to pay her loan. Nothing on paper, she got screwed big time (not funny, but oh well lolJ). I think, "Young/old people put their lives on the line; the least he/she (RECRUITER) can do is give all the information". What you thinkJ. Thank you!!!

My recruiter told me, you get one or the other first, the student loan repayment or the sign on bonus. The student loan payment is payed directly to the lenders from the military, and its UP to 50,000. It is ALSO taxed. It is 20, 20, 10 thousand for the 3 years, and the sign on bonus is also spread over 3 years. You have to sign a 6 year committment to get both.

Good luck -

I don't "most recruiters will do anything... to get you to join" that is a large stereotype - and you have to be concerned enough about yourself to do a bit of research as well... it's the ol' adage that you are the most concerned person about your own career.

btw - check your keyboard I think your "J" key is stuck as you have it inserted throughout your email...

Hello Everyone!

Please make sure that your Health Care Recruiter submits your paperwork for what ever bonus or $$ promised you.

I waited for about a year and realized that I never received my promised Reserve Bonus $. Come to find out my original recruiter (the one who signed on the dotted line next to my signature) never submitted any paper work.

I have been trying now for 2.5 years to try to get what was promised me, and I am :banghead: I have the signed contract but......Still hoping with fingers crossed. I didn't get any type of bonus for going Active, and with two son's in college that money would go right in their College Savings Plan.

Hi Athena,

Funny, my recruiter ALSO forgot to send in my final paperwork--for a signon bonus. I had the phone number of an "incentives" specialist at HRC, but I have misplaced it.

She is the one who told me my paperwork was never submitted. Apparently it should "drop" into your account 2 weeks after submission.

However, I haven't received mine yet----any lead on a phone number to call?

thanks

cindy

Cindy - good catch, do you have a copy of your orders?

I had several friends who had problems with bonuses or proper BAH coding or proper time in grade etc etc. When the arrived at their duty station they sorted it out at the posts finance office. My peers had no problems provided they had their paperwork on hand.

With that being said if you are busy now - you could always delay the fix if it's difficult over the phone, if money isn't a current issue, assuming you get it sometime~ If you have plenty of time prior to going to a post I would wait the two weeks and see if it's deposited, if not I would get number from recruiter and enlist their help.

Sage advice I was given at basic training by a drill sergeant:

Upon entering the service you immediately need to create an, "an I love me book" which is essentially a 3-ring binder. Place all contracts, finances, med records, evals, awards, orders, and ANYTHING mil associated/useful into this book.... you will be amazed by the time you are a wise 1st lieutenant how much paperwork you have created and just how useful it is when inprocessing, outprocessing, changing duty stations, doing security evals, justifying and saving awards, etc ,etc .....;) This will greatly benefit you should you leave the military or stay a full 20 years..................

Congrats on the elusive bonus~

Hi JC,

Thanks for the advice, I did start a large multi--file system for all military material in our filecabinet---it is a life saver. ( ---I commissioned 6 months ago USAR)

Just an update......I was just phoned by an incentives rep at HRC.

She told me that my file is in order, but no disbursment are happening until OCT. 1st (new fiscal year). Then, the bonus will drop 2-3 weeks later.

Thanks,

cindy :)

I was told by my recruiter just this past Monday that there is NO bonus for nurses commissioned into the reserves for FY2009. I was really disappointed but I am not going to let that deter me from joining...

If anyone has heard any different, please post it!!! I dont think my recruiter is pulling my leg (he has no reason to really), but I would like to know if there is any other knowledge out there...

Thanks

Kelly
