Is anyone else on here applying for FY 2015 for Air Force? I'm in the process of applying for the selection board in October 2014 and it would be great to hear from someone else also applying for the end of this year! :)

Thank you mickey1172 and congrats to you as well. sbain51 you can do it!!! I have faith we will meet in COT in May!!! SO much to do but we can get it done...

WHOOO HOOOO congrats enova, sbain & mickey!!! Very excited for you all!!

Hoping I'll be joining you all FY2016!!

Enova!!! I haven't been on here in a while and when I read your news (both that you re-applied then were selected) I literally yayed out loud for you lol!!! Congratulations! Your persistence has paid off!!

Any news yet where you will be stationed? I am currently living in the Keesler area. I'd love to hear about how the journey goes for you. As for me I will be done with my BSN this year. I'm not sure how soon I would like to apply. I had always thought immediately, but I'm wondering if I should build up more experience first. Also, I'm a single parent and at times wonder if I should wait until she graduates high school. (only thing is, that will put me closer to the age cut-off). I've been looking into ways I can serve/volunteer as a civilian in the meantime. :)

Again, congrats to you and all that have made it!!

Thank you free2live!!!! I could not believe it either, this is Gods plan and is working out at a perfect time for me. I think you should apply right away because as you know getting in first try is difficult but gives you a better chance next time. I have faith that it will work for you in Gods time too! No word on assignment yet but recruiter says soon, the Kessler area would be nice! Now just waiting on background check and then to swear in, maybe then this dream will seem real!! I still feel on cloud nine lol hope to keep up with everyone else once I'm there.

Enova, it's so encouraging to see your perseverance paid off!! Congrats. I'm applying to the NTP this year (I applied last year, didn't make it). I'm really praying and hoping this will be my year. I've been revamping everything about my packet. I know it's different than the FQ route but any suggestions?? I already have most of the stuff people suggest for new grads (ACLS, PALS), I graduated in December, just got my license last week, searching now for a job, I'm a very active volunteer as well. I just keep searching for more I can do but not finding much, or it requires RN experience...

Camo angel thank you!!! The road has been long so don't get discouraged for you if worse comes to worse then u will get a job and experience and apply fully qualified so no biggie. I would get involved with church activities and also political party activities as a volunteer as a letter of recommendation from these would be good. Sounds like you do have good things already so I know you will get in it just may not happen when u want it. My best advise is be persistent. It will happen if you want it to just be very patient and remember getting in is the beginning because then the competition to stay in begins! I know I will get to see you in there someday, keep it up soldier!

Thank you so much!! I'm a POC in my husband's unit FRG (he's army but getting out in July), volunteer in my church, and volunteer on an army base with Red Cross. All of this is new from the past few months and I'm really hoping it helps this year!!! If I don't get in this time, I'll look at my options for FQ route, just concerned about applying against people with so much more experience than me

I would say try to find a job in an area of need for example ER, pedis,OR the slots in this field are not many but not many people with qualified experience apply either so that is the best bet rather than just as clinical nurse which is med/surg. From previous boards I think there are lots of applicants for clinical and fewer for the specialty areas. So if you have to come to that specializing is best. You got everything else so you will get it!!

Awesome, I would prefer an ER job if I can find one but in my area there aren't enough preceptors to take new grads. I may end up in a med-surg until I know baout NTP, then I could try to switch and go for FQ if I still don't make it...

Specializes in Adult Critical Care.

Just for everyone's info, the Air Force doesn't recognize pediatric nursing as a specialty with its own identifier. You are just a clinical nurse just like med-surg or outpatient clinic nursing (46N3 or 46N1). San Antonio has the only pure inpatient pediatric unit in the Air Force.
