This place is poorly run. The couple years old public reviews say its great, but we have new management now. The management is inexperienced, snotty, and rude. She's simply not approachable. I do approach her with my questions or concerns anyway, but it has never been really received well. At this place, (I work prn, only the occasional weekend) they think nothing of letting the norco, or perc script expire, and giving tylenol instead (w/o order, btw). Every time I go in, SOMEONE wants 'the good stuff' and somehow, the.staff has failed to follow up with pain management on these SNF patients throughout the week. As unbelievable as this is, I suspect that they were knowingly giving one patient another patient's narcs rather than preven the problem in the first place, or call the doc about.getting a script faxed in. I wasn't gonna give someone somebody else's med, so I called the oncall --- and they were NOT happy, but I wasn't either. And neither was the patient!! The thing is, this type of thing happens a lot. Nothing much has changed, either. The don/ nm has hired a ton of LPNs with experience from even WORSE working environments, so they seem to think this is fine? I would really like to tell them to take this job and shove it. I only have one more day scheduled. I don't even know if I should go in because there's always a **** storm of some kind hen I work there. Problems that could have been avoided. There's other issues as well. What would you do??

I would do exactly what I did: Tough it out while finding another job.

Whenever narcs are involved, it's a big red flag!!! If your name becomes embroiled in an investigation, you'll most likely go down with the ship as it doesn't sound like your admin will help.

You need to protect yourself. And if that means getting out, then do so FAST. And I hope you have your own .

Call the state. Medicare fraud is not usually tolerated well.

Make sure your butt is covered by your documentation.

The last time I worked there (& like I said, I rarely work there bc the management is horrible and unsupportive in my opinion), so when I got report from this nurse who's been there for a few years and is supposedly friends with the nm, she said oh, such and such patient (new to me, bc these are skilled patients) c/o a little pain and I just gave her tylenol and she said that worked fine. Mind you, there wasn't even an order for tylenol. But that's what they (not me) do at this place. The young nurse preceding me is almost done with her DNP and she thinks that is fine for herself to do. Leaves me in a tough spot bc I will not do that and have to call the doc/np on a Saturday night to address this pain that my patient is in. Well, come to find out, the patient said that they had been giving her norco. Then she said there had been a few mix ups with her name. THEN, I saw where someone had put 'x" patinet's narc sign out sheet in THIS patient's spot in the book. Looked sneeky and weird to me. I checked the EMAR. No order for this med (or Tylenol). I checked the hard chart just to be sure, and found the norco order that had been expired for two whole days. The whole thing really irked me and I honestly didn't know what to chart. I had been calling the on call and it got.to the.point where 3rds came in and I told them the situation, and that we were waiting for a faxed order. I hate this place. They seem completely anti-structure. I was TRYING to get a certain time experience in before I move on.

I am almost always in the "stick it out" camp but not this time. My advice would be to stay on the payroll but not pick up any more shifts. Give official notice when you have another job in hand.

There are many things I would be willing to tolerate for a job. This situation is not one of them.
