LTC Salary for new grad RN

Specialties Geriatric

Published

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this thread. But I need help on tips to negotiate or talk about compensation in a LTC facility. I am a new grad and I have a meeting with a Director of Nursing next week. I was wondering what is the average salary for a new grad RN in this kind of facility.

Thanks.

Where in Texas? Just the location Mods will beat us for names.

I got paid 20.16/hr in North Dakota as a first RN job. I am looking for a job in southern california as my family move at the end of this year. I am so stressful because haven't found a job yet. If anybody have an idea where is hiring, please let me know. Appreciate that

which facility and what state?

I recently hired a new grad....$26.50 base pay plus shift and weekend dif.

And to think, when I was a new grad, the best paying LTC around was paying $8.00/hour!! When I left there to work at the hospital, I made $10.47/hr on 3-11 and thought I had it made!

I work as an RN in LTC in a small town in northeastern SD and make 18.50 which includes 50 cent nite diff... when I first graduated they started me at 17.00 as base pay...

crazy........How is it supposed to be a profession if people keep doing what they do?

I am a new grad and just accepted a position in a LTC facility in the Lehigh Valley, PA. I will be starting at $24/hr. The rates go up the closer you get to Philly.

We just hired a nurse with one year experience. She's starting at $28.50 per diem.

Pitiful...I'm ADON, nearly 25 years experience & I make $0.50 more than her. And I'm salary not hourly. It all depends on location.

I got a call about a DON position in the Carolinas. The recruiter told me it was the 'best' salary she'd seen. The salary was $62,500. It all depends on location. And....we're all worth way more than we're paid, whatever it is.

Its interesting to note the variants in wages. I think some of you should definitely be paid more. I never bothered discussing pay, because I figured it would be decent, and I was happy to have a job so quick. I am a new grad starting just under 34 dollars an hour in LTC. I would not work for anything under 28 dollars around here, since that is about the lowest rate that nurses get here.

Hey nascar nurse :) just to give you an idea of what you would be worth here (Canada), my preceptor with 11 yrs exp made over 40 dollars an hour. It varies, but most facilities I have seen pay on avg 3O to 50 dollars an hour for RNs now. Those of you with exp would get from about 38 to 50 an hour. Or, the salary equivalent of this.
