How do I go about applying for this?

Hi everybody. I would really appreciate some advice.

I have recently graduated and am going to be taking the NCLEX-RN in about a week. I was looking at local LTC facilities and found one that I really would like to work at, it is close and in a very nice area. They recently had a posting for a RN but it is not there anymore. This facility requires you to bring in a resume (I will include a cover letter as well), and the filled out application to their HR office. The DON's name and e-mail address is listed on this website.

My question is, even though the job posting is not there anymore, is it still ok to apply for a future RN position? And would it be fine to send my resume and cover letter to the DON through her e-mail as well as submitting everything in person to HR, that way I can stand out?

I really appreciate advice in advance. Thank you so much.

Agree with PP. Sometimes a position closes (for whatever reason) but then it (or another) opens up again. If you've made a good impression via an actual interview (or just your paperwork) management may remember you and call you back some time later.

It did happen to me. Give it a try.

Things change quickly. I've interviewed people who were hired for 24 hours only to have a full time shift open up in a day or two. Send your resume' and cover letter to the DNS.

Absolutely go in and get your name and resume in there! Go in dressed nicely and ask if the DON is available to speak briefly. Introduce yourself and express your interest, especially if you can name a specific reason that you want to work at that facility. Whether it's a quote from their website, word of mouth recommendation, anything. And if the DON isn't available just fill out the application, smile at anyone walking by and make a good impression on anyone you can. Good luck.

Definitely fill out an application and leave a resume. Depending on the DON, most (including myself) can't handle walk-in appts on the spur of the moment.
