I put an ad in Craigslist for an RN supervisor. I specified that the person HAD to be an RN, HAD to have long term care experience, and it was essential they have IV experience.

I got a resume today from someone who was (maybe) getting an Associate's Degree in December in Marketing. His work experience included working at an ice cream store and a restaurant.

Really? Did I need to waste my time on this? Can people not read? Do they skim the ad, see the word supervisor and assume they can do the job?!?!

I would be tempted to write the applicant out of curiosity ... to ask if the resume was submitted to YOUR job by mistake ... whether he intended to send it in response to a different add.

If it was a mistake, you are helping some poor guy out and that might make you feel good. If it wasn't a mistake, maybe he'll get the hint -- and you could get a little smart-alec satisfaction out of calling him on his foolishness.
