U.S.A. Georgia

Published

So I am trying to get into gwinnett techs fall of 2013 class and i just wanted to start a forum for us to support each other and for info. I still have a couple pre reqs to take but im hoping to do well! Good luck everyone

Rn student what does it mean when it says to contact the admissions office?

Honestly, I am not sure. If you have [moderator edit of name] email address I would send her a quick email stating your curious as to why you would have to contact admissions. Sorry I could not help.

Didn't get in just heard from [moderator edit of name]. :-( Maybe God has another plan for me!

Mine has changed to accepted and my major changed to Nursing too!! Congratulations to everyone else who got in. Hopefully we get the "official" news soon :) I've been working on getting the required shots and "such" for another school that I hopefully won't be going to. Found out today that I def don't have TB :) anyone else working on their requirements yet?

Congrats Rednurse29! I've been working on my stuff too. I've gotten my CPR certification& got my first Hep B shot this week! Hopefully we'll get official letters in the next few days!

So sorry aalewine :) I am in the same place as you & God must definitely have other plans for us. Do you mind sharing you gpa & kaplan score? I just wanted to compare.

Good Luck :)

For the people that have had changes in application/transcripts. Mine says decision made, and then to contact admissions, but it says NUR nursing instead of Healthcare science. So, I can't remember if it has always said that.

My transcript still says Healthcare science.

Hi hudsonl4,

How did you do on the kaplan & what is your gpa?

Specializes in OR.

RN_Student14, I remember they way y'all stalked last year. You were all right on the edges of your seats, and I was right there with you even though I wasn't trying to get in yet! As we get closer to the summer, any advice you might be willing to share about program preparations or success tips will probably be devoured by every student here. :coollook: I know we'll get info from the program, but it's always good to get help from somebody in the trenches.

Hey guys. I do hope the changes in banner web mean we are in.

Don't mean to go off topic but...there is a position available at Gwinnett Medical Center, where I currently work, and the head of the department asked me if I knew anybody that would be interested. The position is for a part time Support Tech (ie PCT) in the Pre Op department for the Main OR. It's Mon - Fri with mostly 3pm to 8pm shifts with the possibility of two 6am to 12pm shifts. I am currently a Support Tech there and have to say it may be the least "invasive" teching job I've seen. Great experience and benefits. In a nutshell, we prepare patients for surgery. If you are interested, feel free to contact me through email: [email protected]. I am also open to any questions.

Have a great night, and good luck to all! :)

My GPA is a 3.3 and Kaplan was an 80. [moderator edit of name] said that my GPA was a little to low but my Kaplan score was very good! I guess I will be retaking some classes in the Fall.

aalewine that is exactly what happened to me last year. I had a 3.1 GPA so i retook a few classes and this year I applied with a 3.7 GPA. You did very well on the Kaplan's test so next year you'll make it for sure. Good luck!

I didn't get in :(. Apparently my Kaplan score of 73 was too low, but I have a 3.9 GPA. That's so disheartening to work so hard on the prereqs and have an entrance test determine your faith. Oh well, keeping my fingers crossed for the last school I applied to!! Congrats to those who were accepted!
