I am in my senior year and suppose to graduate in May. We have this instructor that gives us math questions, they want us to show calculations. I am not great in math but made it this far. She has made me and many others do math over and over again. For example I say for Digoxin you need BUN and CR and Therapeutic blood levels I did not write Digoxin level, I also explained why you take the level. She also is going over all my NCLEX problems we do 20/day. Sometimes I get 70% some 80% but I have gotten 50% on somethings. Now she is telling me I am not good enough and I may not pass after all this.

I know I would be a good nurse, I am good at clincals I handle 3 pts just about my myself. I hope to sit with her Monday afternoon but I know I will start crying. What good is that? Making students feel like they won't make it.

I am sooooooo scared.

Well, I give up. I've been a med/surg nurse for 30 years. What do BUN, creatinine and therapeutic blood levels have to do with math involving Digoxin?

Wow, that stinks this close to the end. I don't understand instructors who can't be supportive at some level unless someone absolutely does not deserve it.

Most of us are petrified enough about our abilities without that being thrown in. It's just so unnecessary!!

I wish you the best...hang in there and get outta' there!!

I emailed the teacher, she called me back and suggested I call a therapist because my anxiety is too high. I explained to her about the questions and she said she was looking for the word Dig level. And that on some of the math questions I have not been finding the exact words she wants.

And I have been not getting a 70% or more on some of my NCLEX quizzes.

Sounds like she is really trying to make it so that you PASS your NCLEX once you graduate and wants to make sure that you have the skills that you need to know in order to do so. Well at least thats the way I would look at it.

We do a dosage exam each semester, and one has to obtain 90%, fail it, you get a rewrite, fail that, your out!! One fellow had a high 90% avg but failed the rewrite and was shown the door!! Hope you get it sorted out with ur prof. Best of luck

We have 100% pass requirement for medication calculations.

These are not tests, they are worksheets that are handed out weekly they do not count for points they are suppose to show you what you need to work on. I do get most right, for example, I got the answer correct but I did not have a equal sign so it is marked wrong because I did not have the equal sign but the answer itself was right. Or if you do not show all the work for example you do not show you divide the wt by 2.2 but still get the final answer right you get it wrong because you did not write you divided the wt by 2.2. Or I explained about getting the therapeutic level but did not write the word dig in front of it. And she wonders why my anxiety level is skyhigh.

:yeahthat:

My thoughts exactly at this point....who needs the added stress when all your work is so close to culmination....I just don't get it....it's so darned scary, huh?!?!

Hang in there!! Almost there!!

70% /80% on math and you complaining? lucky you.. You must make 100% on every drug calculation in the nursing program am in right now.... 100% .. i mean everything on the paper must be correct or u out of the program...

I've posted this before in another area, but our class has to pass a math exam with 100% before moving on to the second year. I have trouble with the critical thinking tests as well. I'm passing but not up to my usual expectations.
