sup dudes n dudettes,
the nursing school struggle is real. so much reading to do, but i'm trying to stay positive n picture what it'll be like to finally be an rn.
anyway, got a practical coming up soon n i'm planning on tucking my scrub pants into my shoes. i'm prob gonna do it regardless of what y'all say (lol), but i'm curious as to what your opinions are on the subject.
study hard. peace.
I feel old. Is that a "thing?" Tucking pants into high tops? When did I stop knowing what the current "things" are?
I had to ask our doc last night if this was a fashionable "guy thing" and he said yes. Told him why I asked and he about died laughing!!!!
Posting from my phone, ease forgive my fat thumbs! :)
Me? I am not offended....I do think it makes you sound....young...immature. But that is just my opinion. I is what I is...just doesn't portray you in your best light.that quick escalation though. to clarify, the reason for me wanting to engage in tuck action is due to the fact that 1) my shoes are made for eating tucks 2) it's just a style.plus, the tuck won't really be major. i kind of see it like choosing what color scrubs you wanna wear -a matter of personal preference.
excuse me if the dude/dudette thing offended u lol. i am what i came from lol. there's no changing that.
Your shoes are made for eating tucks....hummm....strange expression. I think it is awesome to be whomever you wish to be and I value individuality. When you are at home...not at the patients bedside. When you are outside of the hospital.....be the individual you are. When caring for patients you need to be the professional they expect you to be.
There is a certain expectation...a maturity...that nurses must adapt at work for it allows patients to relax and feel they are well cared for by an intelligent competent mature individual....it makes them feel safe. In my day....I was pretty outrageous myself....I would remove my Cap at every opportunity and would wear sweaters other than the color blue AND I would wear earrings and a ring that wasn't a wedding ring....racy right? (I'm kidding)
But you are young and new to the journey. We all learn as we go along. Good luck on your journey!
Been there,done that, ASN, RN
