Taking A&P More Than Twice

I am currently a pre-nursing student, who is in a bit of a pickle. I have now taken anatomy twice and been unable to pass. I failed the class the first time and had to withdraw the second time. Many nursing schools only allow 2 attempts at anatomy for nursing students. Are there any schools that allow students more than 2 attempts? I am a sophomore this year and have a ton of the pre-req courses for nursing school out of the way. I would really like to remain on the nursing path if possible. Thanks to everyone who comments!

Regardless of whether or not you can get into a nursing program, I'd be more worried about the chance of being successful if you got in. There's a lot of things many times harder than anatomy in store for a nursing student, maybe you should take some time to figure out what's going on that you are struggling so much. It only gets harder

Don't worry about failing. Retake the class and try to pass it. Once you pass you start applying to nursing schools. This class you failed does not define your ability in you becoming a brilliant nurse. What a real nurse needs is people skills and what most RNs don't have is people's skills. I am pretty sure you got it. Keep up the good work and make your dreams come true.

I withdrew and received a W on my transcript. I am currently not enrolled in anatomy (I am taking BIO 101), because I need to find out if taking anatomy a third time is even an option for me! Thank you for your comment!

Wait, did you take A&P before Bio 101?? That might be why it was so hard!

Yes...that's me...that doesn't mean to give up your dreams because of some shady Professor s and shady nursing schools. Aren't you the one who asked for a raise from big pharma?

No, what a nurse really needs is a working knowledge of A&P, 15 arms, a 20-gallon bladder, the ability to eat lunch with one's toes while typing a chart note, eagle eyes to catch physician mistakes and a patient's declining condition, and the ability to deal with a belligerent drunk patient/family member while de-escalating a psychiatric patient and starting an IV on a DKA patient. Unfortunately, people skills often fall off by the way side for me.

I agree with an above post. Not to sound mean, but if you can't pass A&P for the second time, you should probably change your major. Nursing classes are no joke.

I third this. I made a 96% in Anatomy 2. I'm a solid B student in NUR classes.

Nursing school turns A students into B students and so on.

Actually it does matter... Anatomy and physiology 1 was very easy with a moderate amount of studying. How exactly is one supposed to excel in nursing school -- you know, the cirriculum required to even qualify to TAKE the NCLEX....to say nothing of passing the NCLEX.

Can one be a brilliant engineer or architect if they can't pass high school level geometry? Can one be a brilliant pilot if they can't pass physics? Can one be a brilliant member of an elite special force if they can't pass basic training? Can one be a brilliant soprano if they can't get the hang of "head tone?" Can one be a brilliant theologian if they can't pass a Biblical survey class? Can one become a brilliant SCOTUS justice if they can't pass a civics class?

No? Well one can't be a brilliant nurse if they can't even pass pre-nursing classes.

A nurse with bad people skills is unpleasant. A nurse without a strong knowledge of A&P, pathophysiology, pharmacology etc. is DANGEROUS.
