Pregnant in Traditional BSN Program

Hey, just found out I am pregnant with baby number 3. Just started my second semester of a five semester traditional BSN program. Baby due beginning of May/end of June. Tips? Advice? Prayers?

Communicate with your instructors, nurses, and doctor/midwife. Listen to your body. Sleep when you can. Keep food handy. Stay hydrated.

Congratulations first of all. I'm currently pregnant in a RN-BSN program. I'm due in December, which would be the start of my final class. Thankfully, I am in an online program so that makes it easier.

My advice is to do what you can to stay ahead. Sometimes I completed multiple assignments at once so that I can have a break from school for a few days. I do my work while I'm energized, because there are some days when all I want to do is sleep. Listen to your body. Talk with your instructors and just put you and your baby first. If it is too much in the last semester then take a break. School will always be there. Best of luck!

Yes, definitely talk to your professors and instructors. At my nursing school they said that they have been running the program for a long time and they understand life happens- including the fact that students get pregnant. They said the most important thing is to talk to them ASAP because they can't help you if you take that test and come to them afterwards for help if you bombed it. They can make arrangements for you if you are having a personal issue or are pregnant, or whatever you may be dealing with. That's what the instructors told me at my school, but hopefully your school is supportive and can help you..maybe take a semester off and start with the following class for a particular semester or quarter

First of all, congrats!! My boyfriend and I were contemplating getting pregnant this year. My graduation date is May 2016. My age worries me as I am 38. We decided though to wait until his law practice is off the ground and I at have graduated.

listen to your body and communicate with your instructors and docs. That is the most important thing and get enough rest. You can do this if you take care of yourself.

Hi there, congratulations! I went through this 18 months ago, I had baby #3 at the end of semester 4 (of 8 semesters). Pregnancy concerns, obviously get enough rest and try to take any extra assignments/projects just incase you have to miss classes for health reasons, you'd hate to be penalized because you don't have enough practice hours.

As for post-baby, I decided to take the year off from school because with my program it was full-time both semesters or nothing and I had heard that semester 5 & 6 (year 3) was the most difficult. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed my time off with my baby, but in reality I would have gone back in January (when she was 9 months old) if I was able to. Now starting back at school with an 18 month old and in semester 5 - it's really *******' tough! I would advise to get support and help with child care so you can study. I'm hoping my mom will come stay with us at the end of November and help out.

Don't worry about the pressure

Rhere was a chick in my class pregnant and delivered mid semester and managed. To make it to graduation

Hopefully your teacher will let you double up on clinicals and this way you can focus on exams

Congratulations! Yes, talk to your program instructors/director. That was one of the topics that my program covered during orientation. They said they understood that life changes can happen during the program and that students should notify them right away to be able to work with you. Congrats again!

How is your pregnancy while in school going so far?

I just found I'm pregnant with #2 and just started my second semester.

Have things been going smoothly so far? Have you found anything to be difficult yet (as far as being pregnant and in school)?
