I can't believe I missed my pre-nursing orientation earlier today. My husband lost his brother two days ago and I've been so stressed out! Ripping and running here and there, I'm losing my mind! Classes start Sept. 22nd and I don't know what to do. Each major has a different orientation day and I missed the pre-nursing one. The last one is tomorrow. I dont even know what major it will be or anything! I can't believe I remembered 4hrs. too late and now I don't know if they will let me start or not. I tried calling the school but it was way after business hours. Do I have a chance? Should I go tomorrow? And guess what, I just remembered tomorrow is my birthday.

That's so unfortunate! I'm sure if you call them first thing tomorrow and explain your situation, they'll give you a chance. I mean, it can't hurt trying right? Good luck!

Thanks sum07! That's exactly what I'll do in the morning. I'll let you know what happens. Again thanks!

Hey, let us know how it goes....I missed our orientation (it was optional) in May before our fall start as I had just lost my mother unexpectedly and was out-of-state, obviously with other things on my mind. It wasn't any problem and when I got back, I made an appointment and met with a nursing counselor to get things lined up.

I hope it goes as well for you; best wishes and so sorry for your loss...

happy birthday (a day early) and i have a strong feeling that you will get a birthday present from your school in that they will work something out for you. they don't want to lose you over something that you have no control over. i would be shocked if they didn't arrange something for you....

good luck and have a very happy birthday!

I hope everything worked out alright for you.

Wow, you have a lot on your plate! There is this girl in my nursing program who missed orientation for no other reason than she was hungover and forgot about it. The program director let her slide on it anyhow. Each program is different, but they would have to be total *#%'holes if they didn't let you in based on a tragedy, something you obviously had no control over.

On a side note, we have orientation before each semester and the January semester orientation ALWAYS falls on my birthday, which totally sucks because it's hard to celebrate it because I am overwhelmed by the huge packet containing each classes objectives including the stuff we have to read before our first class. I totally understand where you're coming from!

At my school we had to go to these orientation sessions too that were divided up my major. It was one of the biggest wastes of time of my life. My school offered several for each major, so if you go to a big school they probably have another one next month. If not, I'm sure they'll let you attend one for another major. One of my friends in NS missed the actual nursing school orientation, not pre-nursing, when a pipe exploded in his house that morning. He's in second semester with me. It can't possibly be that big of a deal, especially with a death in the family.

Let us know what happens, and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

hope it's going well

happy birthday

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. Hope you and your family are doing well.

I hope your school helped you out with this - I would be surprised if they didn't understand the situation you are in.
