Nurses Watches

Do you use a nurses watch or a regular watch with a second hand? My watch has a second hand but no lines to indicate the seconds. I think I would be better of with a nurses watch because they are so big and clear. Do you think it is worth extra money to buy one of these?

I have been using a Timex with a second hand. It works fine but I really want to get a watch with military time. It would save me a lot of aggrevation when trying to translate from regular time to military time and back.

Just a tip for military time - simply add 12 to produce a military time if it's pm or subtract 12 if you have a time above noon that is foreign to you. Once you do it for a while it becomes second nature.

I just got a regular inexpensive Timex for my birthday that I will use through clinicals. Once out of school, I'll probably opt for a "better" one with more features. For now, it has the second hand, looks nice and lights up.

I use a watch i got at Wal-Mart for 15 bucks. It has a sweep-second hand, and the military hours numbers on it. Plus it has the date. It's perfect for me (stays in my pocket though, can't wear it on my wrist).

Hint on the Military time calculations, all you have to do is add 12 to the time.

:)

I.e.

1pm = 1 + 12 = 13

2pm = 2 + 12 = 14

etc.

Hubby is former military and he taught me how to do it!

My problem is I'm not good at math in my head. Trying to subtract 12 from 21 after a twelve hour shift makes my head hurt!

I bought a white Nursemate watch with a large face and red second hand. It was $25...which isn't too bad.

This sounds like the same one I have! :)

My husband bought me the cutest watch for school. It has Minnie Mouse wearing a nurse uniform and steth. It was only $25 from www.watchesnthings.com that included shipping. It doesn't have a really big face but works for me. It also has 5,10,15 second markings all around. i don't need military time since I am a military brat. It is made by Lorus which is a division of Seiko. So it is a really good watch for a good price. Although I have not taken the yuckies in consideration yet. :uhoh21:
