Just get it over with!!

Nursing Students General Students

I'm now a junior in my program. Lately I've been thinking...I really don't want to go to school...it's boring (classroom)...I hate school!! I know that some of the other students in my class feel the same way. I'm not giving up....I just hate school!!!

Our clinicals are 45 minutes to an hour away so I have to get up at 0430 to get there in time. Fridays are a 27 hour day because once I'm home from clinicals I change and go in for a 12 hour shift. I became sick about 3 weeks ago and have been through three bouts of different antibiotics (I know my system is rebelling),to no avail. My doc can't figure it out and he's very good, thinks it may have gone into pneumonia (great like I need that!!).

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way? And what, if anything did you do to get out of the slump?

essarge, I'm with you, in a slump, can't wait till it's over. Sometimes I feel like I would get just as much out of lectures by just reading the book, which I do and not having to sit in class. Most of the instructors follow along in the book anyway.

Pharm is really interesting, putting all energy in that class.

Hope you are feeling better !:)

Specializes in LTC, ER, ICU,.

pneumonia, i had this too. i am aware of a few more who had it too. take care of yourself.

i feel similar to you about school too. it is so demanding but i will not give up and i pray you do not either.

((((essarge)))))

Yep,

I agree!!! I am burned out completely. Most everyone else in my class is as well. I just try and keep thinking that it will be over with in May; Christmas break will be nice as well. But while school is in the way I deal with it is to pick one or two days out of the week to just forget about it (usually Friday and Saturday). These days for me are to go out and have a good time. Some of my friends in school call me crazy for going out like this, but it works for me! --Tim

I know exactly how you feel. My brain is just exhausted. 9 more weeks until our semester is over. I hope I can hang in there. :)

I hope you feel better soon, try to take a break for yourself.

i'm right there also. body is rebelling.....have had a cold since labor day and it won't go away. still coughing and hacking.

the first year was "fun" and "neat" and "cool". well, i'm done playing now. i just want it to be over so i can officiall say "rena rn" and be happy about coming home. i don't even want to come home from classes/clinicals these days cause i know my day is far from over. tack on another several hours of paperwork/studying and i'm in for way too many 20 hour days to suit me.

i'm in no danger of giving up and quitting but i'll be so glad to see june 2003 roll around.

Could you all breathe in the other direction, please. ;)

As long as it works for you Tim, that's all that matters ! Everyone needs time to relax.. good luck !;)

LOL, I hated school by the last semester, couldn't even remember why I wanted to be a nurse, had a cold for 5 months, BP was up to 150/102 (and I only weigh 118 or so), had BLACK circles under my eyes down to my sagging jaws, at one point my clinical instructor sent me home and told me to stay there for at least 5 days (it was over the weekend OK, so I didn't REALLY get that much time off cause I worked weekends) Nursing school is a test of endurance and commitment- Hang in there, it ends.
