just wondering how many sets of scrubs you all have or plan to get for school? I dont want to go overboard on them, but since they are on sale right now, I thought i'd grab a few sets.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hiya FutureNurse, does your school have a set uniform? If so, you'll probably need to purchase it from the school or the uniform company they contract with to provide uniforms. If not (lucky you!), then take a look at how many days per week you have clinical, not only your first semester but in future terms. The last thing you want to be doing after clinicals & care plans is laundry late at night! :)

I was told we could buy our own, as long as they are solid colors (no print tops).

clinicals are 2 days a week, and then my preceptorship. I figure I'll need one set to wear each day and a spare "in case". I planned to buy 4 sets to start, and then a few more for my preceptorship.

But then again, how quickly do you go through them? The ones I am getting are excellent quality, but I know that they still wont last forever and I know that things happen.

Thanks for your thoughts!

First semester clinicals are just once a week, and I bought two sets (but one would probably be enough). I just finished my CNA clinicals, which were Monday-Friday for three weeks, and I bought three sets, but two would have been enough (because the second I got home I stripped down and threw them in the washer!).

I had about the same schedule (until senior preceptorship when I was allowed to wear prints... :) ) and my 2 sets were just fine. Granted I had to wear the ugliest uniform on the face of the earth but that's another story...

We have a uniform (royal blue) that we have to have embroidered. I ordered 2 sets, even though we only have clinical 1 day a week for now. I only got one lab coat and one warm-up jacket though. I didn't want to spend too much $$.

I think how many sets you want/need depends on how many days a week you have clinical and have often you feel like doing laundry. I think 2 is a minimum, but maybe 3, if they are inexpensive. I've heard places like Wal-Mart and JC Penney have inexpensive scrubs.

We have clinicals once a week (and a uniform) and they suggest only one uniform for the first semester and then another the second (I believe).`

thanks!! I just want to have spares in case of accidents at clinical. i'd feel pretty bad if someone puked on me and I didnt have a change of clothes! lol

thanks again! :)

Two sets of scrubs and one lab coat will do you fine.

I'm so excited! My newly embroidered scrub sets, lab coat and warm-up jacket came today, along with my name tag that says "Whitney, Student Nurse".

OMG! I'm a student nurse! I never thought this time would come! :chuckle

Anyway, all royal blue, except for the lab coat, and college name embroidered. Why, oh why, don't they let new students purchase old scrubs though? I thought our name was going to be embroidered on them, and that's why we couldn't purchase used ones from past students - at least the tops. Pants I can see purchasing new.

Now all I have to do is get my CPR renewed, and I'm all set to start!

Klone,

Did you wear your scrubs during the class session of your CNA program or did you wear them just for the clinicals? I begin the CNA 3 week class next week and we only have 3 days of clinicals at the very end of those 3 weeks. I'm not sure if on day one I should show up in scrubs or not? Thanks, Steph
