Has anyone taken A&P II, Micro, Stats, and Nutrition in the same semester?

I was wondering if anyone has taken these classes in the same semester. I know they are tough and taking them in the same semester might be crazy but i figured nursing school is going to be 100 times harder, and i believe i can do it. However, i would like to know if any one has done this and how it worked out for you if you have.

I will graduate summer 2016, but if i leave micro or any of those credits for summer i won't be able to attend the fall 2016 nursing program, instead i will have to wait until fall 2017. Which i really don't want to do, it feels like such a waste of time waiting until 2017. Any advise?

The A&P and Micro both come with labs by the way!

thanks in advance!!!

I think that would be way to much personally. Are you already accepted into a nursing program? If not it's really important to get best grade u can in a&p and micro.

Sounds like a lot, but to me it depends on your ability to retain large amounts of info and how much time you have for study. I believe that I personally could have managed that load if I had enough time to study, but everyone is different.

My comments would be that it depends.

It depends on how well you manage your time, what grades are "acceptable" to you, and if you plan on having a social life (or work) outside of school.

I Took Physiology (full semester), Micro, Stats and Genetics in a semester and got a 3.74 GPA. I didn't get full marks in Micro, but I also worked 60+ hours a week. I was also waking up at 4am to study before work and spending a good amount of my day at work doing homework or making flash cards. It's a heavy course load, and depending on your teachers, it could be quite difficult- but it's manageable if you are willing to put in the time. Say goodbye to your friends for a semester, though!

I'm taking A&P and nutrition together right now. It is not hard at all because some of the information runs together. Last semester I took Chemistry and Micro at the same time and it wasn't hard to manage.

It's do-able, it just depends on a) your ability to handle science & math courses and b) your organizational ability.

I took 7 classes in one semester so I didn't have to wait an entire year for nursing school. I took Physiology (our school does Anatomy separate from Physiology) which had a lab, Microbiology, Microbiology Lab (separate course), Pharmacology (required for nursing, very intense course), Intro to Health Professions and Human Growth & Development. That's the busiest semester I've ever had, next to my first semester of nursing school.

The key to making it through a heavy course load is staying organized. I lived by my planner. I color coded each exam date, each quiz date, papers due, homework due, etc. On the empty spaces in between, I scheduled my study time.

I made it through my "semester from hell" with a 4.0, so you can most definitely do it. Just know you are going to be exhausted. Try to schedule some fun time away from the books when you can. For the most part, it was constant study.

I felt it helped me prepare for my first semester of nursing school, which had a crazy schedule. You register for the class itself, but you have skills lab, physical assessment lab, simulation lab, PA lecture and clinicals. I was at school or the hospital nearly every day of the week for the first 6 weeks of class.

It depends on you! Looking back, I would've done it. I took stats & a&p2 at the same, almost took micro as well. I loved micro so I could've done it at the same time. My nutrition class was only & a piece of cake. Make sure you can handle it!

Personally, I wouldn't do it, but it all depends on what you think you can manage and what your goals for grades are. It was really important to me to get A's, because it is so competitive around here to get into nursing school--I was waitlisted when I got a B in A&P II, which happened when I took on too many credits at once. I don't think I could succeed with all those classes at once, because they were so intensive (particularly stats and micro). I did take stats during fall term of my second year of nursing school and that was madness in and of itself!

There are a lot of factors at play here. Primarily your personal life. Do you have kids? A job? Other responsibilities outside of studying?

It is doable. I've done a similar course load. When I was single, childless and not working.

I did and got A's. However, I wasn't working and I didn't have kids or any big responsibilities. I'd be careful, though. Grades are important to apply to nursing programs.

I took A&P 1, Chem, Stats in the same semester. The next semester I took A&P 2, Micro, Psych and Developmental psych (psych and developmental psych were online). I took nutrition over the summer, it was an easy class compared to the others. I got a 4.0 in all my prereq classes.

You can do it, especially since you've already passed A&P 1. Study a little every day instead of cramming. I still had a social life, a family life and a small business when I did my prereqs; nursing school however, is much more demanding of my time, and my social life has suffered.

I've taken my pre reqs in groups of 3 - first set were Anatomy, Human Development and Nutrition - 4.0 in all classes.

Now I'm just finishing up Microbiology, Physiology and Statistics.

It was a lot to take in one go - general recommendation is no more than 10 credits a semester.

Good luck!
