Has Anyone Else Had Problems With Hept. B Vaccine?

After my first vaccine (in the series) I broke out in 4 large boils. Because several days passed, my Dr. was not sure if it was the vaccine or not.

Today I had the 2nd shot. Within 2 hours I had 7 boils (4 on the face and 3 on my neck).

Has this happened to anyone else? I probably will report it to the Vaccine reporting system.

Never heard of that but get this! I had my series of 3 shots and I haven't built up antibodies. Great! They'll send me off to some lab for studying and another series.

What will happen now with you? What explanation did you get for your reaction so far?

As long as the vaccine isnt life threatening I can still complete the series--I may just end up with 10 boils next time!!

It most likely is a reaction with my Borrelia burgdorferi bacterial infection (Lyme disease). I did read some French studies that say the vaccine can cause lymph drainage. I see a hematologist on a regular basis if something severe were to happen (problems breathing and such).

On your case, there is a misconception in medicine that everyone makes antibodies. That just isnt true. I dont make antibodies to Lyme at all. Never have.

Yeah I heard 10 % of the pop. doesn't make antibodies.

I didn't make antibodies either but that boils thing doesn't sound too cool. Should be reported to the CDC or FDA or whoever regulates vaccines for their stats.

VAERS is the reporting system for vaccine adverse reaction. You can google them, or I believe it's just something like vaers.org

playa, the same thing happened to my father, who is a hospice volunteer. Both he and I have had weird relationship, if you will, with viruses. I've had chx pox twice, and mono twice. He had mono FIVE TIMES. Yeah, those diseases you can only get once? :uhoh21:

______________

There is an official vaccine reporting system thru the US. Mainly it is used by parents whose children have become disabled (or die) from mandatory vaccines. I believe it is VAERS, Klone. Thanks.

Get this...I went to the health dept. and they said they didnt have any Hept. B vaccine and didnt know when they would get any either.

I ran into an upper managment person in the TB clinic who called around and contacted another official who found some in a closet!

At first, they told me I could get the Hept. B vaccine if I went downtown to the docks (sailors have many diseases) and if I had an STD!!

That's awful about the boils!

I found out last week that I didn't convert after my Hep B series either. Don't know what I'll do - do it again, or forget about it. I've heard many don't convert, but it doesn't necessarily mean there is no immunity.

5 Xs? Ouch. That's some diet. :chuckle Wish I could get it ONCE!!! Just kidding. Kinda.

My sister got the "chickens" twice too. I wonder what makes people do that?

Guess I'll wait until Virology.

Next time you see a small child with the pox....RUN!

Yes...I was told that we can't go mucking around in a person's abdomen in surgery and take extra precautions later in clinicals or practice. Do you know if we will be limited to what area of practice we go into? I can do without the mucking around myself! :)

My school didn't require a titer for antibodies so they don't even talk about restrictions. I found out I didn't convert when I had my work physical.
