Has Anyone Else Had Problems With Hept. B Vaccine?

Published

After my first vaccine (in the series) I broke out in 4 large boils. Because several days passed, my Dr. was not sure if it was the vaccine or not.

Today I had the 2nd shot. Within 2 hours I had 7 boils (4 on the face and 3 on my neck).

Has this happened to anyone else? I probably will report it to the Vaccine reporting system.

Never heard of that but get this! I had my series of 3 shots and I haven't built up antibodies. Great! They'll send me off to some lab for studying and another series.

What will happen now with you? What explanation did you get for your reaction so far?

That happened to me!

Unless your titer is drawn within two months of completing the series, it wont be accurate. The cdc does not recommend routine titers for healthcare workers. If your facitily requires it, the usual procedure is to get one additional hep b shot (if you had the series already), have the titer drawn in two months. If you still dont have antibodies, you finish the series and have another titer drawn two months later. If you still dont convert, you will need to be treated post-exposure(needlestick or something of that nature)with HBIG. As for whoever said they found some hep b for her in the closet (sorry I cant remember who posted it) RUN!!! That stuff has to be refrigerated!!!
